Been hearing about a local casino's 10/20 O8 game they spread on Tuesdays. Game has gotten quite popular and usually has a waiting list now, besides the regulars that always show up. I have been hearing stories about how wild and loose this game is and is a potential goldmine for whoever plays it right. This is a story I've heard from multiple regulars so I'm giving it credit really thinking about taking a half day off work to play this some week.

9 handed game. One hand is capped 8 handed preflop, capped 8 ways on a J 9 4 flop. Capped 8 ways AGAIN on a 9 turn and C/C on some blank river. Winner shows down Jacks full in a huge $1700ish pot......in a 10/20 game. The sounds of this game remind me of the .02/.04 game on Stars with how loose the action is.

I ask how much a normal buy in for this game is and the answers have varied from $200-$1000.

A question I have is: how much different would you play in this sort of game? How much would you open up your starting hand requirements when you know you can play a capped preflop huge multiway pot almost every hand? Would you call in early position with hands you would normally dump?....simply becaus you know your getting huge odds? Would you ram and jam a pot with a nut low draw?....even with no high?...because with huge pots you'd almost be guaranteed a profit on the hand? Patience is easily my biggest weakness in O8 regarding starting hands so I'm interested to hear a few suggestions. Also, if it were you playing, how much would you sit with?

See a flop with any good hand that you are willing to play and pay, after the flop get out unless you have the nuts or are drawing to the nuts, profit.

Play solid and a little tighter starting requirements if anything. Chasing pot odds and implied odds with hands that have little chance to be the winner at the end is a way to lose your bankroll quickly. I don't like to sit with less than 30bb personaly, but I'm sure you could get away with less if need be (wouldn't try with less than 20bb personally) Play hands in position!!!!!!!! You can maximize your profits and avoid potential pitfalls by doing nothing more than avoiding playing OOP in lag games. In general I always try to play the opposite of the table dynamic in my home game. If everyone is playing loose crazy I'll play TAG if there all being super nitty I'll start getting a little more LAG.

if the pot is going to be multiway then preflop raises shouldnt affect your starting hand decisions too much, except that you might want to stay away from 23 type hands and high wrap type hands.

Your suggesting even staying away from 9TJQ, AKQT, AAT9, type hands? Basically any high broadway connecting cards with no low potential?

How would anyone feel about even A4, A5, suited type hands?

i like high only hands with an ace in them, especially a suited ace. with a hand like aqj9 a suited ace would be a requirement.

hands like 9tjq im feeling meh about in this kind of game. i could be wrong about this, but i don't think i am. and i know its definitly right to stay away from most 23 hands unless they are at the tippy top of the 23xx range like 2345ds or 23kkds.

coordinated a4 and a5 hands with a suited ace are nice in position.

the biggest thing you want going for you in a hand is a suited ace.
