Hey, I used to post now and again on here about 2 years ago (forgot my old password, and the old email account has been shut down)

I have some very simple hands that I want feedback on to make sure my game hasn't gone retarded :0) No reads in either of these hands, other than the fact that i'm playing 0.05-0.10...

PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (8 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Preflop: Hero is Button with A, K
4 folds, (Opponent alias) calls, Hero raises, 2 folds, (Opponent alias) calls

Flop: (5.4 SB) J, Q, Q (2 players)
(Opponent alias) checks, Hero bets, (Opponent alias) calls

Turn: (3.7 BB) 2 (2 players)
(Opponent alias) checks, Hero bets, (Opponent alias) calls

River: (5.7 BB) J (2 players)
(Opponent alias) checks, Hero checks

Total pot: $0.57 (5.7 BB)

This hand seemed pretty standard, but I wanted to check if it was...

Hand 2:

PokerStars Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (10 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 4, 4
UTG calls, 1 fold, UTG+2 calls, MP1 (poster) checks, Hero calls, MP3 raises, CO calls, 1 fold, SB calls, 1 fold, UTG calls, UTG+2 calls, MP1 (poster) calls, Hero calls

Flop: (15 SB) 2, 8, 4 (7 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, UTG+2 checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP3 raises, 1 fold, SB calls, 2 folds, MP1 calls, Hero 3-bets, MP3 caps, SB calls, MP1 calls, Hero calls

Turn: (15.5 BB) A clubs (4 players)
SB checks, MP1 checks, Hero bets, MP3 raises, SB 3-bets, 1 fold, Hero calls, MP3 caps, SB calls, Hero calls

River: (27.5 BB) 5 clubs (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP3 bets, SB calls, Hero calls

Total pot: $3.05 (30.5 BB)

(the ace and the 5 on river and turn are clubs, forum says i'm over my image limit...)

My concerns here are:
1) pretty sure SSHE tells us to call preflop here, has the game changed since I read this?
2) I was leading on the flop with the hope that it would get immediately raised and I could protect against runner runner flush/straight, since the 4 flush was coming along anyways... Would it have been better to CR for equity since i can't really protect? or possibly CC and protect on the turn (this just seems wrong...)?
3) I again tried to protect, was worried about MP3 having AA, but figured the pot was really big here, so any equity I could gain, should be gained? In hindsight, i think this is a mistake, as I cant see anything that SB could have other than a flush, and I'm not getting the raise I want from MP3 unless i'm beat (no way kk is raising here...) After the 3 bet, the pot is huge so I figure I have to call down.
4) What do we think of the overcall? Again, figured that it was a small mistake worst case scenario since the pot was so big.

I hate being forced to call down big pots and losing (as often happens if you want to stay +EV) sad.gif

I'm not betting the turn since MP3 raised us on the flop and a high flush draw is a likely holding. I would c/c.

I could maybe see getting away from it here on turn after our bet is double popped behind us.....but I'm probably calling too.

I like hand 1, I think it's fairly standard. I probably would tend to like checking behind in most online games these days, but this is .05/.10, which probably plays more like the old SSHE games and I think you might be able to squeeze out a thin value bet on this river some of the time. Of course, sometimes your opponent will have a Jack be going for the check/raise, so I probably still prefer checking behind.

Hand 2 -
Preflop is fine, perfectly standard in this game IMO.

The flop is interesting, I like your reasoning for leading out and probably do the same myself. We're charging draws the max this way. I like getting 4 bets in here as well. I think we're virtually never behind here.

The Ac on the turn throws a monkey wrench into things. In this game, I'm assuming that the flush card has almost always put me behind and I think I'm just check/calling and hoping to fill up on the river.

I don't like overcalling this river at all. Our set has now turned into a very weak flush. Virtually any club is beating us and most of the time in a game like this, we're not winning often enough to make it worth our while even in a big pot.

Folding the turn is horrible here. The pot is big and we have ten outs against the flush. Our opponent could have AA, but our equity is still good enough that you can pretty much never fold this turn.
