Ever since the merger, has anyone noticed how god awful XM/Sirius has become. They got rid of their best hip hop station for this Shade 45 shit and totally axed out the old school music.

I dont really listen to it for the music anyway so it doesnt really bother me. As long as I get Howard and Bubba I am happy. The company is broke so who knows how long we will have sattelite radio for now. Love that picture in your sig.

a lot of my XM music stations are now gone being replaced with their Sirius counterparts

they claim they are same types of music being played on the channels that were replaced, but the songs and artists are different

Case in point, I used to listen to XM Squizz a lot because it played new rock music. They have since replaced the channel with Sirius Octane, which was playing older stuff like Freak on a Leash by Korn as of 1:45 PM today.

I have listened to MLB Home Plate religiously since I got XM, and they have almost overhauled the entire format of that channel. Mark Patrick (who I loved), Chuck Wilson (who I didn't care for), and Ronnie Lane (meh) are now gone. They broke up Rob Dibble and Kevin Kennedy and put them on separate shows. They took off the replay of Baseball This Morning so now if I want to listen to the show I have to be up at 5:00 AM sharp. They now run a completely new show show from 9AM to 1PM EST and another one from 1PM to 3PM EST, but this will change when the season starts back up as Jeff Erickson's Fantasy Focus, and Charley Steiners Baseball Beat will reappear. That aside, neither of the new shows are really worth a crap...I'm hoping they get better.

I'm not liking where this is heading right now.

My friend was a huge Squizz fan and said they at least brought the program director over from there so that's at least a plus. They brought Leo G. from Raw to Hip Hop Nation but even with him there, that station is so garbage.

It was a good idea...but the whole thing is going down the crapper.

Hope Howard got his money up front. How much longer is his contract?

I was pretty disappointed they got rid of Sirius' Older Hip Hop station (can't remember the name of it), but it was alot like The Rhyme on XM. They should have merged those. Instead, they now have 2 hip hop channels that play the same freaking crap in Shade 45, and Hip Hop Nation.

As for the Rock stations, I actually liked most of the Sirius channels better than the XM because they play more "hits," whereas XM played more "deep" stuff. Liquid Metal is still there, but it's more like Hard Attack anyway, Octane is pretty good, but they haven't messed with Faction at all, that's my favorite channel. Listen to Jason Ellis in the afternoons (3pmEST), he's pretty funny.

I just wish they would get all the channels available on both platforms ASAP...Any idea when this is supposed to happen? I'd guess they would delay it as long as possible to keep those with both paying twice each month.

I have a Sirius, but I'm familiar with XM channels also.

As for rap, I actually really like Shade 45.... there afternoon DJ's are super funny. I do think it sucks that they got rid of Backspin (the Sirius old school station). XM had a ton of other rap channels, I'm suprised they didn't add any of those. When it comes down to it Hip Hop Nation and Shade 45 had a ton of listeners which is why they were kept. I think they are playing the censored versions of rap songs on Hip Hop Nation which is the lamest thing ever. I think they will bring back an oldschool channel in the future, everytime they take calls on Shade 45 someone complains about it.

Rock: I'm happy with the new lineup. Buzzsaw is gone but the same channel on XM is still there, so basically all the same Sirius channels are there. I thought XM rock sucked, so I'm glad they kept all the Sirius stuff. If you guys haven't checked out Jason Ellis on Faction in the afternoon I highly suggest it.

Techno/Electronic/Dance: I thought this was the main category that they butchered. Area 44 (or whatever the #) is still there, but they got rid of a lot of other cool channels I've listened to in the past. They had good channels on XM also that were axed.

Jazz/Blues: Pretty much the same like it.

Classical: I LOVE THE NEW LINEUP. Way more of a selection. In the past the only had SIRIUSLY SINATRA available online, but now I can listen to it in my car, I love it!!!

As for the talkshow, entertainment, sports, I haven't browsed that much other than football and Howard Stern so I don't really know what's up with that. The Playboy channel better still be there so I can jerk off in my car on long road trips (Yeah, I said it). I will say that I used to like Ferrall on the Howard 101 channel, but he has gotten so annoying to the point that I can't listen to him anymore. I liked him better when he talked about stuff other than sports every once in awhile but now it is solely a sports shows and the majority of his interviews are with just sports figures. Actually when it comes down to it he still has good content, I just can't listen to his voice anymore.

(edit) Trb beat me to the Jason Ellis comment lol

summary: Most of the channels I listen to are still there so I'm happy. Hip Hop Nation sucks for censoring the rap songs. Listen to Jason Ellis.

anyone follow the stock price?? It's taken a huge shitkicking. Down to 14c now.

They have an assload of debt to refinance or pay off next year and no way to do it. The auto industry isn't selling for shit so their subscriber growth targets are in the toilet. I bought a couple shares on the way down...not even worth paying the commission to bust out of it now...lol
