siquinte
10+1 4 left 18 started (sick tournament by the way 18 people top 10 get 250 if chino is the best PS player at the main event 50 otherwise)

Seat 1: filip267 (19256 in chips)
Seat 7: stilwrkin8t7 (1329 in chips) BB
Seat 8: 777MORTEN (4090 in chips) SB
Seat 9: siquinte (2325 in chips)

Blinds 100/200 ante 25

payout 90,54,36

stilwrkin just lost a big pot against the leader with a set of aces so i think he's mad and i try to trap him a bit by calling with AK hoping he pushes if the sb completes.

He does push and i insta hit the raise button going all in.

Two questions?

Is the trap ok? or 100% of the time raise?
After he pushes do i just call or push all in?

Thanks for answering

I guess the trap is ok, although at 10+1 I'm surprised they would fall for it.

Definitely push all in to isolate since you have AK

Um, is there a HH. Sorry, but I'm trying to understand the action here. Are you siquinte? If so, it's not like you're in the clear here, if you have AK you should push. Blinds are already 100/200. Please post the HH it makes it easier.

lol, I just looked at OP's name, so duh. But either way post the HH. You're talking about trapping with AK. Do you mean just calling? Your stack is not big enough to trap like you want to, I would think. I mean, what happens if the SB complete and BB checks? What do you do if you whiff the flop? Sure you can possibly bet the flop and and hope to take it right there, but what if you get played back at? Now you have to fold and you've lost more than 200 in chips and are probably under 2000. You're better off just shoving that spot in hopes that you take the blinds. If someone calls so be it, you're possibly aheaddy anyway or in a race that you're not too dominated in.

Trapping here is an interesting idea that really would never have occurred to me; but I still agree that it's better to just keep it simple and shove as your first action.

This is somewhat confusing the way written, especially since in your scenario the bb comes before the sb. I assume you just mixed up the seat numbers, but I'm still not sure if you're utg or on the button. Either way, I think raising preflop is the better option especially if you are under the gun. Although it may of worked here, you take the chance of trapping yourself when nobody raises.

With an opponnt that has a smaller stack than you, I wouldn't be trying to induce an all in by your opponent. I think it is best to just pick up the blinds preflop
