Sounds good. I clicked check and before even seeing his cards I was pissed at myself.

this is something like a7 or a stubborn pocket pair a whole lot. i am never worried about a six here and 9s and ts would usually have put in more action. there are two pair combos, but you have them beat. so its pretty obvious that you have to bet.

if he raises i call because i am not going to fold to river raises on scary boards , especially when he could have some 2 pair combo that you beat (i see a lot of people even at higher limits not realize that a pair on the board counterfeits their 2 pair to your over pair).

Yeah, we can't assume his river check means strength.
So with my overpair here, I bet out against even the bigest of slowplaying monkeys.

On a side note...
Most people have always disagreed with me regarding my love for opponent's donk bets.
But clearly here, this is a situation in which we would love to have seen Vallain make such a bet on the river.

Yes, a funky bet from our opponent would look "scary" and we might feel we were behind.
But realistically, we are never going to fold to this hypothetical river bet.
And seeing it in front of us allows us to close the action- which is huge.

Point:
When VIllain checks this river to us, we have to play "win 1- lose 2"
But if Villain donk bets the river, we suddenly have a lovely "win 1- lose 1" scenario.
And that's better in every possible way.

I second this being an easy river value bet.

The only way I fold that river to a c/r is if I have a very good read that he never bluffs are gets tricky with tp.

Then technically, we're only losing a percentage of 2...not the full 2. =)
