I'm such a scrub...
anyway...
Started one for football, so I might as well fire the basketball one up. Here's my first real league, 10 team H2H catagory league. I had the first pick, which was terrorfying, as I couldn't decided on CP3 or LeBron.. I went back and forth, and finally went with CP3, based on the fact that I like his game more ( coupled with my general philosophy of prioritizing Point guards and Power forwards.) But it still makes me sick. ( The second pick was late to the party, and ended up auto picking Kobe, and Lebron with a sick 3rd).
Here's the team
PG Chris Paul 1st round pick (1 overall)
SG Steven Jackson 7th (61st)
SF Ron Artest 6th ( 60th)
PF Pau Gasol 4th (40th)
C Al Jefferson 3rd (21st)
G Baron Davis 2nd (20th)
F David West 5th (41st)
Utl Kirk Hinrich 8th (80th)
UTL Richard Jefferson (81st)
UTL Troy Murphy 10th (100)
BEN Derrick Rose 11 (101)
BEN Mickael Pietrus 12 (120)
BEN Joakim Noah 13 (121)
Over all, I'm pleased with my team. I have depth at point guard and power forward, which was my goal Any thoughts on the roster? I hear that both rose and hinrich are going to start ( Rose at point, KH at 2) So maybe I should start rose instead Troy Murphy?

I can't answer the Murphy-Rose question, but I can contribute a bit.
I'm in an automated Yahoo h2h league with auto-draft pick (maybe I'll try doing another league where I can participate in the draft)
Here's my team.
PG - Chauncey Billups DET
SG - Stephen Jackson GS
SF - Josh Smith ATL
PF - Amare Stoudemire PHO
C - Chris Kaman LAC
G - Kirk Hinrich CHI
F - Antawn Jamison WAS
C - Al Horford ATL
Util - Marvin Williams ATL
Util - Gilbert Arenas WAS
BN - Grant Hill PHO
BN - Boris Diaw PHO
BN - Tyrus Thomas CHI
I know very little about my team. Any opinions would be appreciated

I had my draft on yahoo last night. And BigD... unless you are in a PG,SG,SF, etc. league, CP3 over LeBron is just terrible. And even then its not close. LeBron has better or comparable stats in every category except assists.
For the record, "Ime Udokas Birthmark" had the #1 overall pick, and took LeBron in .0000000000000002 seconds.

Understood. Can we not agree though that LeBron at #4 in any league is just horrendous? And DWade/Howard are severely underrated

For the record, I was agonizing over Lebron and Paul, and in the end I think I made the wrong choice. I went into the draft wanting to prioritize point guards and power forwards, and also, I prefer CP3's game to anyone in the league's, so that was my tie breaker when I couldn't decide. I hadn't actually considered what I'd do with the number one pick, and if I'd researched it I think I'd have gone with Lebron.

Your team isnt bad. A little old for a keeper, but not bad. And Im not sure how big an advantage going young really is.

That's not really the point. The point is, now I'm stuck in a keeper league with people I didn't draft, and I have no "connection" to my team. My team isn't bad, and I def. would have picked Dirk 6.... but I know this isn't the team I would have drafted, and I feel very little connection to them. It's depressing, and it's all my own fault.

Yeah, that sucks. Maybe send some trade offers? Try and make it your own that way.

lebron is noticeably worse in FG%, FT%, 3s, AST and TOs..
the only stats where LB is noticeably better is pts (~4pt) and boards (3).

LOL...WTF is this...really, what the fk is this?
Chris Paul is pretty much the perfect fantasy basketball player. He doesn't hurt you in any category, leads the league in steals and assists, and his %s are ridiculous for a PG. LeBron can hurt you with TOs, which is more brutal from the F position, and his %s aren't impressive. FT% will definitely hurt you. I can't think of one stat where CP3 is a detriment (don't be a nit and say blocks).
Yeah LeBron's numbers are just stupid, but saying "it's not even close" is pretty bad (for a standard category league). 1st overall pick I'd still take Paul, and 2nd is debatable between LeBron and Amare.
Amare's stats in the 2nd half with Shaq were amazing too so you can even justify picking Amare over LeBron.

This team is just murdering my league. I now have Mario Chalmbers and Samuel Delambert instead of Noah and Hinrich, and I'm murdering my league 24-10, by far the best record in the league. I'm first in points, steals assists and am second in rebounds and 3rd in three pointers made. My philosophy of prioritizing point guards and power forwards has paid off, and I'm feeling good about my paul pick after the first month.

I can't bring myself to watch the Celtics for any extended length of time yet, so what's going on with Paul Pierce, he's barely shooting 40%. Is he in a little slump or is he just not looking for his shot and in cruise control a little bit? I thought better to ask the fantasy people seeing as it's a stat related question.

A bit of both really. I'd expect his production to go up both as he works out of a slump and as later on in the season the C's start to work together a bit better. Despite their good record in my opinion they haven't looked nearly the team they did last year. But I think this early in the season the C's priority is really to get Rajon and Perk more into the offense, especially Rondo and to try and sort out the second unit. Given that Paul has played some mighty fine fourth quarters this year I'm guessing that cruise control is a large factor.

I would love to know the answer to this as well, because Pierce is killing my FCP fantasy team.

Granger and Jefferson is pretty sweet.
how many players in your pool? I'm not sold on Mayo for this year. too many ??? to be starter on my roster unless you're in a really deep pool.
I think I've put Bargnani and Murphy about the same. except Murphy had a career year that I can't see him duplicating and Bargs has sick upside.
of course I'll be able to embarrass myself in 2 days after I draft.

This is just some random public league that I don't really care about. I wasn't paying a lot of attention, and the clock was running down so I frantically grabbed Murphy and Mayo when I did. I regret both of them. Though I'm not as low on Murphy as some people seem to be.
