I am a Pirate/Marlins fan and I excited about the Rays in the WS. Living in Miami, this scrappy team reminds me of the Marlins a few years back.

David Price sent to AAA at least for the start of the season. Thoughts?

Their just trying to buy some time to clear up some roster space while extending the time until Price can be a free agent. Just like with Longoria last year there is nothing to worry about.

They've already signed Price through 2012, though I think Price can void the contract at any point once he becomes arbitration-eligible. With two other potentially decent starters out of options, that almost certainly played a role in this decision, even though Price is probably better than either. Just curious if anyone thought this decision was stupid given that they are set up to do well this year and aren't solely in "prepare for the future mode" anymore.

Wow, first week of the season they go winless, Longoria goes down with an injury, and now Manny retires. Tough goddamn week.

I think Manny's retirement is a PLUS for Tampa.

Not really. The Pirates will lose more games. A fair estimation would be 10 more losses.

The fall of the Red Sox is giving me great pleasure.

7-0 Yankees after 7, Red Sox game was in a rain delay and I shamefully shut it off. Woooooooooooow... Best finish ever!
