some people got fooled by my title. some didn't. by 'my title' I don't mean my forum title you dummies. I mean the thread title. You see there's a character on the television oh wait. the hbo show 'The Wire' called 'Omar'. here's a picture

on the show ('The Wire'), other characters would say the line "omar comin" when omar was coming. So, by using this as my thread title, people opened it expecting me to talk about 'The Wire' but I instead posted a link to this tropical storm which just became a hurricane and is also called omar but it's a storm not a character on an HBO show. you might say these people were 'tricked'. You see they expected one thing and received another thing that was entirely different from the thing they expected. you might say, "run, isn't that irony." And, I'd respond, "NO. that is not irony. Irony is mostly about intention and the opposite of that intention. One example of this would be in the John Steinbeck book with the Pearl on the cover. I forget the name of it but the pearl is on the cover of the book and the irony in that book is that it sucked. no wait it's that they bought the thing for the baby to be baptised in but they ended up using it to bury the baby in or something to do with death." You'd be all, "omg you sure do talk a lot and wait a minute. I NEVER READ THAT BOOK YOU JERK!" I'd retort with some finality, "muahahahahahha."

If I knew what channel FX was, I might check it out, but I rarely watch channels I don't have in HD. The standard channels are setup pretty odd on my cable. That and I'd have to go back and watch from the beginning. Never seen Lost either.

It was on HBO, and it's entirely worth it to go back and watch every single episode.

I've watched the entire first season of the Wire. Is it the best HBO show ever? Ive seen every Sopranos, Six Feet Under and John from Cincinnati. Perhaps the best cop show ever?
KONGOS

My bad, I was thinking of The Shield maybe?

Well, then I have less of a chance cause I don't have HBO. I download Entourage, that's about it.

Season 4 of The Wire is the greatest thing to ever be put on television.

I think the wire is the best show, ever, period. Season one is great, but it's just the tip of the Iceberg.. you really don't start seeing why the show is truly great, till the end. Seasons 3-4 are maybe the best possible thing that you could make for TV, and seasons 2 and 5 are fantastic too. There's no "perhaps" about if wire is the best cop show ever.. and really, it becomes much more than a cop show.. there's never been a cop show that was like this. Ever. Some cop shows have been "gritty" some have shown cops to be "bad" guys.. but the wire takes a completely judgment-free look at the war on drugs. The show isn't about good or evil. The drug dealers arent' really the bad guys. The show is more about individuals trying ( and mostly failing) to fight the systems that they are in. This show illuminates the unique and real problems of the "war" on drugs better than any fictional thing I've ever seen.

The name of the book is The Pearl and obviously you've never read it.

Omar Little: That wasn’t no attempt murder.
Maurice ‘Maury’ Levy: What was it, Mr. Little?
Omar: I shot the boy Mike-Mike in his hind parts, that all.
Omar: Fixed it up so he couldn’t sit right.
Levy: Why’d you shoot Mike-Mike in his, um, hind parts, Mr. Little?
Omar: Let’s say we had a disagreement.
Levy: A disagreement over?
Omar: Well, you see, Mike-Mike thought he should keep that cocaine he was slingin’ and the money he was makin’ from slingin’ it. I thought otherwise.
Levy: Why should we believe your testimony then? Why believe anything you say?
Omar: That’s up to y’all, really.
Levy: You are feeding off the violence and the despair of the drug trade. You are stealing from those who themselves are stealing the lifeblood from our city. You are a parasite who leeches off the culture of drugs…
Omar: Just like you, man.
Levy: Excuse me? What?
Omar: I got the shotgun. You got the briefcase. It’s all in the game though, right?
