Seriously VDN, what the fuck?!

You can't call yourself an NBA coach if you ever roll out a lineup of Rose-Gordon-Deng-Nocioni-Gooden. You may as well just give them points. I just don't understand why VDN won't give Thomas and Noah somewhat regular minutes. Noah doesn't do much, but at least he boards and defends the rim ok. Thomas is our best defending big man and rebounder and is actually an offensive threat when he plays within himself. He's coming off a December in which he played very well, and VDN rewards him by not playing him enough. Solid Vinny, there is no way Paxson isn't regretting the decision to hire him, or maybe he's not because he hasn't shown me that he understands anything anyways.

This team needs to be blown up from the top on down IMO. There are problems everywhere. Vinny seems clueless.

Reggie thought it was odd that VDN brought in Sefolosha for Noc as a defensive replacement, lol.

Nice win tonight. TT looked good on the defensive end and played very well against LeBron. Overall, the defensive effort was solid, much better than anything I've seen this season. Gooden only played 18 minutes...coincidence?
chgocubs99
I'm almost dissapointed in this win streak because now they may think they have something when in fact they have nothing. Last night confirmed the pointlessness of having a roster makeup like they do, though. They have 9 players of average talent or less, and then Rose. Three of your "best players" barely play, Gooden, Gordon, and Hughes, and still you get a victory against a top 3 team. What does that say about your best players?
chgocubs99
Jose Calderon treated Rose like his personal whipping boy tonight and outplayed him in ever facet of the game.

The Bulls look overmatched and outhustled nightly and their flaws now glare as half the season is behind us.

That's because Calderon is a top 5 point guard in the league.

Hey it only took 50 games for VDN to realize having TT and Noah up front was our best option!

Well, yea, that too, but I was trying to give VDN the benefit of the doubt.

Also, now that the trade deadline is only two weeks away, I'd like to take this time to remind everyone how awesome Paxson is for giving Nocioni a contract in which he will be owed 40M over the next five years. Oh yea, don't forget about the Hinrich contract that has him owed the same amount over the next four. Thank you Paxson for making two of the most untradeable contracts in the NBA.

Combeine those two with Deng's, and we have three of the worst contracts in the league. It's good thing Gordon turned down his offer or it would be four.

Unless Deng magically turns into a 22/7 guy consistently for a whole season, that contract is ridiculous.
chgocubs99
Vinny's mannerisms annoy me. I hate how he calls timeout, then walks halfway out onto the court by himself and looks like he's trying to act like a hardass. Also, when the Bulls score, he'll move from near the end of the coach's box and walk back toward the bench with his arms folded across his chest. Stand still, douchebag.
chgocubs99
I'd like to point out that I really like Stacey King. Overall, he's solid.

I really wish that he would stop making it seem like the Bulls should make a stop every time, or they should have scored on offense every time. It's the friggin NBA, dude. People are going to score against you. It doesn't mean you didn't execute properly a lot of the time. When you miss a shot, it isn't always a bad shot. NBA players make a huge percentage of open shots. When they go in, I hear crickets, when they miss, it was a "rushed shot".

His one liners are funny and he's obviously better than Kerr, but the homer stuff and the aforementioned "results oriented" analysis can't be fooling even the most casual of fan.
bigkg
I don't get many Bulls games down here in Indiana, but how come every time I do they play like shit?

The Heat are running circles around us.

That last offensive play VDN drew up was awesome. The best part was not having Rose in. I'm shocked it didn't work.

I dont think I have ever seen back to back stolen inbounds passes during crunch time.

LOL

Didn't see it but heard about it on the radio. Looking forward to seeing the replay.

And come on, you're saying with a straight face you'd rather have Rose on the floor in that spot than the secret team offensive weapon, Thabo?

Bulls get Brad Miller and John Salmons for two practice pucks, towel.

Looks like Paxson finally did some right. Miller is a big upgrade at the 5, Salmons has been playing out of his mind this year, and Chicago didn't have to let go of Deng, Gordon, Noah, or Heinrich to make it happen.

i agree the bulls def. win this trade, as the kings are just trying to clean house and clear cap space.

any chance the bulls do this to make another trade?
Suited_Up
Doesn't look like they're gonna do anything else, but we can hope, but rumor has it that they're gonna hold onto Hinrich because they don't know what Gordon is gonna do next season.

But Thabo, Gooden, Nocioni and Hughes are all gone!

We get Brad Miller, Salmons, Tim Thomas and a draft pick.

Sounds like a steal to me. Even if we got half that, we're probably a better team.

It's a complete win-win for the Bulls.. Going into the deadline week, I'm sure unanimously Bulls Fans would say they needed to address their front court shortcomings most of all. Without question they have done this. Dumping Gooden (potentially the most porous PF defender of the modern era) and Nocioni.. and getting back Brad Miller and Tim Thomas is just an amazing upgrade on both sides of the ball.. Both Miller and Thomas are excellent passers whom the Bulls don't need to run the offense directly through to get involved. Both can be spot up shooters to bring opposing big out of the paint. Both can potentially take the scoring load off of the overworked Rose/Gordon/Deng trio. Both can be accurately described as "zone beaters", and zone defense is no longer the pliable option for opposing defenses it was pre-deadline.

Moving out Larry Hughes is about as textbook a case of "addition by subtraction" as there ever was. Salmons brings everything that Hughes brought to the table, and more. Even as skeptical as we can be about someone putting up amazing scoring stats on a last-place team, Salmons taking over for Hughes is a complete freeroll, for this season and beyond.

John "The Inanimate Object" Paxson went trade crazy at the deadline and Kevin "The Tazmanian Devil" Pritchard stood pat. What bizzaro universe is this, anyways?

The deals were fine and all, but please don't ever use "Brad Miller" and "Tim Thomas" with the words "amazing" and "excellent" in the same sentence ever again.

Point taken. But they were significant upgrades. wink.gif
chgocubs99
What the **** is Vinny doing with his substitutions?
chgocubs99
What the **** was that?

6 minutes to go in the game, he decides to take out Rose.

4 minutes to go in the game, he puts BACK in Salmons and Brad Miller. Obviously that makes sense, since they know none of the plays. On the bright side, he took out Tyrus and Noah, which was nice, since Tyrus was the most active player in the second half and Noah was the best defensive player and rebounder the entire game.

2 minutes to go, NOW is a great time to put Rose back in. Makes perfect sense. This will probably help him find his stroke after a 1 for 9 night from the floor...putting people in and out of the game is always a nice way to get your offensive players in a nice rhythm.

No, it's clear that he doesn't.

The defensive game-planning is just terrible. They switch EVERY screen and roll. Every. Single. Time. Every. Single. Game. It's terrible. I can't believe that even an idiot like VDN can't figure out that this won't work.

God, today's game tilted me hard.

I was literally screaming at the TV when Stacey King was over there saying the players were getting hurt by switching.

YOUR RETARD COACH IS CALLING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The switching has been making me go nuts for a few weeks now and today it was just brutally obvious Indiana had studied it, and they exploited the hell out of it.

Sigh.

Del Negro has appeared over matched all season..

Who on your shortlist (i.e. wishlist) to replace him over the summer?

yea it did appear vinny real got outcoach and when they wereout of it he still was screaming foul at the end of the game. The guy is a joke does he have any sense who has the hot hand bc i do. Is anyone suprise on how much tyrus has improve his offense game and the guy plays defense.

I also agree with other two posters b4 me pulling out rose with 4 mins and putting hinrich in, did everybody see how t.j ford was blowing pass hinrich the times he was on ford. but i do like the make of the team, i think vinny should let the team have a lil freedom. as far of who to replace him.
how bout stacey king? jk, but that would be a fun team if hewas on the sidelines. If we need to replace vinny i would liek someone who has experience.

He mentioned something like he thinks they should have been trapping Harris but they never did.

They beat two of the best teams in the NBA by 17 and 18 and lost by 23 to Washington (arguably the worst team in the NBA). Far from par for the course, regardless of home and away.

Well the East as a whole is 14 games over 500 against the West this year so not really that surprising. The bottom 6 teams in the West are truly horrid.
