Hey,
Have any of you heard of this promotional tournement? I entered my name for a draw and received a "free" entry. I guess the tournement is limited to 1000 entries from Western Canada and 1000 entries from eastern Canada.
Here is a link.... www.degreepoker.com
Would appreciate any comments on this type of promotional tourney, as the entry form is quite a lengthy leagal document that isasking me to sign away most of my rights etc...
Is it even worth entering something like this?
regards,
Ryan

The legal stuff basically says that you're not an employee of any of the sponsors, you won't sue anybody if you fall out of your chair, you'll pay your own way to the regional tournament, you won't cheat, you're a Canadian citizen who's legally able to travel to the US and play in the WSOP if you win, and you consent to being on TV if you make the finals. Nothing too outlandish that I saw. I'd guess they're going to want you to wear Degree and TSN schwag if you do make it to Vegas. Oh yeah, and for whatever reason you can't live in Quebec.
It is indeed free, so it's a one in 2000ish shot at $100000 plus a WSOP seat. Whether it's worth it is probably a matter of whether you're free the days of the tournament and live fairly close to one of the regional tournaments.
I dropped by River Rock today - where the west regional is being held - and it sounds like the first round tournaments (with 250 people in each one) are going to be crazy. They're allocating around four hours for each, which means the blinds are going to have to go up pretty fast. The later rounds seem a bit saner.
