Full Version: C Bets Lost Respect

I got an email form full tilt that we all get every month about some pro who talks about poker, but this one I have been really feeling like it a big issue for me and my game. The c bet, whether you hit or whiff you bet 2/3 of the pot. But it is such common knowledge it rarely gets respect. Jon "pealrjammed" Turner said this and I kind of find it true. So my question is do people find this to be true and when are Ideal times to c bet. I feel I feel there are some boards to cbet and others you can't. I would love some feed back.

I almost always cbet unless the flop comes out with both a flush and straight draw and you know you are getting raised,

something like 9JK with two of the same suit

A point for discussion.

With these ranges, the caller should call a pot-sized bet all-in with his pair. We're typically betting even less, but have the threat of additional bets. That's key to the scenario: the villain has to know that he'll have to call multiple bets to show the hand down.

I know but with the awareness of the purpose of a cbet that is somewhat of a leak with the state of the game. Especially OOP, people LOVE the float now days and raise with air just because they know people cbet light. Which is somewhat good for you because often if you do get there on the flop you get more action But what I think is that cbetting needs to have a purpose now days. Always cbetting is not an optimal strategy with the state of the 2008 NlHE especially online.

well this is another topic to almost which is setting up bets to threaten his stack. Betting enough on the flop and turn that he is left with a pot sized bet on the river. With strong hands this is so key in making money in todays games. Onlines games have gotten tougher even at the lower levels. This awareness of bet sizes leaves your oppnents with a pot size bet on the river and almost always induces desparation bluffs and light call downs for whole stacks.

I dont think theyve lost respect at all at typical online limits.

I think people understand them better and know how to react to them and play back at them

Certainly re-raising a c-bet has become quite popular...
