Anyone else excited about this? I think it is 12 episodes, starting on 9-7-08.

I've never been into anything with vampires, ever, but the extended preview I saw the other day had a lot of crazy clips. HBO doesn't disappoint too often, so it should at least be entertaining.

Girl I work with got a screener copy of the first episode. She liked it a lot and since we have similar tastes in shows I'm looking forward to it. She said the supporting cast is really good.

There is a series of twelve 2-3 minute clips on HBO On Demand right now following an investigative report into the discovery of vampires on the planet and the reactions that follow inducing some sneak peaks at some of the characters that will be key in the series.. like the guy who ran the hotel in Deadwood is playing the town sheriff in the series.

FYI, because the screener made it to the hands of a few various places, i's naturally floating around on the net if you want to get a sneak peak at the show. I have a copy on my laptop, I just haven't had time to watch it yet.... fucking Java homework.

Watched it, very interesting so far. The main characters best friend is hilarious.

I am SUPER excited for this show. Rogue from X-Men is in it, and she is my girl.

I don't expect another Sopranoes- but Vampires are real cool.

This show is from the Six Feet Under people. Should make for good TV, even if vampires are overdone. There's a lot at STAKE, but I think the corporate BLOODSUCKERS will enjoy sinking their TEETH into a series unimpeded by censorship.

So far the only thing that was a bit overdone/unusual about the vampires in the first episode is a scene where a vampire is having sex with this chick from behind while she is tied up, and it gets a little creepy.

So I watched the premiere last night. They recasted the role of Tara, which sucks because the girl who played the role originally was much more believable.

This didn't really go anywhere.

Liked last night's episode....can see it building to be more interesting.

Does Anna Paquin get naked at all? What about the black chick? I need to know these things please.

I hope not, probably not, but there is plenty of other nudity in the show.

HBO has already ordered a second season.

Also, has anyone picked up on the dog that seems to follow Sookie around? Spoilering just in case: I think Sam (bar owner) has some sort of special ability too, maybe animal empathy or shapeshifting. Notice how that dog seems to show up right after Sookie does something and gives her unusual looks, kind of like how he does when he seems concerned about her. And in the second episode there was a picture of that dog in Sam's office when they were talking. Something is fishy.

Just watched the first two episodes. really good stuff.

agreed about sam and the dog, at least to some extent. not sure where they're going to take it, but they weren't exactly subtle with the painting of the dog protecting a little girl.

And Anna Paquin is very, very sexy in this.

They've gotten into a little bit of the mythology of vampires, some the traditional stuff, like stakes and sunlight and thresholds, some not typical, like you don't become a vampire if you're bitten by one.

I wonder how people become vampires. I also wonder the heirarchy. Who's the female at the top of the chain they referred to. Probably the blonde woman who's been campaigning for vampires' rights.

Another good episode tonite.

Maybe no one..maybe Sam just embodies the dog or controls it with his mind or something. Josh mentioned animal empathy...something like that for sure.

I just watched this weeks episode last night.

I'm starting to see why they went with the girl who is playing Tara now over the one who was in the original pilot. Now that she isn't spitting out recycled lines that seem like the were written with someone else in mind her character seems a little more normal now. The whole thing with Sookie's brother wanting to **** like a vampire and being willing to do adult video work to pay for it is... creepy to say the least.

Sam's ability needs explained a little better, I wonder if he is aware of what he is doing.

I think she's the older one that they talked about, since she seems all about Bill.

I talked to a friend who read the books, not sure how accurately the show is planning to portray it but...

He is supposed to be a shape shifter with the ability to shift into the last animal he has seen. It's also supposed to cause Sookie problems reading his mind, but they haven't' been showing that.

Anyone notice that the head vampire at the bar was Brad from Generation Kill? I barely recognized him.

I didn't know his actual name, if you said Brad from GK I would have been with you. From what I understand, he is actually one of the main characters later down the line if they follow the books.

Good episode tonite..answered a lot of questions about bill's past...how people become vampires...and quite the surprise ending.

This show is awesome, one of the few that I actually make the time to watch.

Not yet, but it's quite obvious he's either able to turn into the dog that keeps showing up or is connected with it telekinetically.
