He's character pretty much lost it for me during the "I miss Vince" phase.

I don't think it's quite official yet. At the moment I'm still vaguely interested in the new season...my bet is that a few episodes in I'll actively dislike the show. I hope I'm wrong.

The best thing that came out of the "I miss Vince" phase is the fact that he and Lloyd spent more time together...and Lloyd is the man.

I just hope they dont try to hard to make it what it used to be. It isnt that show anymore. The characters have changed. Just keep going. Take these people where they are going, make it funny, and end it when it should.

I mean...will you at least concede that there's a chance that the changed characters and the places they're going aren't nearly as entertaining as what the show used to be? That's all we're saying. It's fine for a show to evolve, but sometimes (like in this case) it's done poorly.

Yes, I will. And you are right, it isnt as good as season 1 and 2.
But it is still better than 99% of television.
Thats all Im saying. We can nitpick it, or just accept that most shows hit their peak in seasons 1 and 2.
Except for 'The Wire'. The Wire peaked at the end of season 4.

I didn't notice it, but I heard that Rex Lee is now a main character, which is good because he's hilarious. I would love to see more of him. Ari was great as usual.
I liked Charlie also (Bow Wow). The people who I watched with thought he was guest starring as himself, but I like the idea that he is playing a character that will be back on the show.

I thought the episode was a success in that they both wrapped up last year and set up this year.
Several running themes have been introduced (E trying to start up his management company, Vince trying to resurrect his carrer, Johnny screwing up a good thing on his TV show).
I'm looking forward to it.

I DL'd all of season 4 and watched the whole thing today. God I like doing it that way much better... I could watch this show all day every day I think.
Then got the first episode of season 5. Good episode and I'm excited to see what happens, but god, I really hate waiting week to week. Kinda glad I missed all of last season and had to see it all at once.

I don't agree. There would still be a cliffhanger at the end of the episode if the show was an hour. It wouldn't be any less well-written.
