So, I'd looking to really streamline my life by using some sort of electronic calendar program. The problem is that I have no idea which one to use, or which ones to use, or how to sync the several that I could potentially use. So, here's my situation. I run Windows Vista as my regular, personal computer. I use Outlook as my mail client. But I also have a computer at work that uses linux where I run thunderbird for mail. What I'd ideally like is a way to sync calendars across Windows and Linus programs that also has the ability to sync to some sort of online calendar (such as the gmail calendar or whatever).

So, I need a system to synchronize probably gmail or some other online calendar program (MobileMe?) Also, syncing mail would be nice, but that's easier, right?

Windows:
Outlook?
Thunderbird/Lightning calendar thingy?
Sunbird?
Windows Calendar?

Linux:
Thunderbird
Sunbird
Evolution


Oh, also I'm going to get a new iPhone this month, so yeah, that's going to need to be in sync as well.

Help!?!? Is this hopeless, or is there a decent way to get everything to work? A complete overhaul of the way I do business is fine (ditch Outlook...?). And I don't mind having to pay a bit if it really works well and is really able to sync my life (MobileMe...?).

So, for those of you who were at the edge of your seats trying to figure out what the great Yorke would do with his personal data organization situation, I'll give you an update.

I've moved from using Outlook to using Mozilla Thunderbird with the "Lightning" add on, which turns Thunderbird into a calendar. I did this because Thunderbird exists across all platforms (Windows, Linux, etc) and because it syncs very well with google calendar. So, I am now syncing several Thunderbird calendars across different computers using google calendar as the "hub."

My only problem remaining is the fact that I plan on purchasing an iphone and I will need to sync my calendar on that phone to my new system of calendars. So, my remaining questions is if there is an easy way to two-way sync between google calendar and the iphone calendar? I know that the iphone likes to sync with Outlook, but Outlook doesn't do well with google calendar, and I really don't like the aesthetics of the Outlook calendar.

Oh, and if you're bored by this, you can just post pictures of Scarlett Johanssen or something.
