Randy Pausch lost his battle with liver cancer this morning. Who you say? He was a professor at Carnegie Mellon who was an expert in virtual reality.
He gave a lecture about life last September after learning that his cancer was fatal. If you haven't seen this lecture you must. It is one of the most inspiring lectures I have ever seen.
Do yourself a favor, skip that poker or reality TV show you were going to watch and view this lecture instead.

Links to videos at CMMy dad linked me to his "last lecture" a few months ago. Very inspiring, and a tear jerker at the end.

Sad, particularly since he had kids- and pancreatic cancer sucks balls, lost a grandmother to that- but overall, I'd say generally 'went out good'. He had a cool albeit short life, a strong 15 minutes, what seemed to be an awesome family, an amazing job- there are a lot of people who live 80 years and only get the slightest taste of what he had in life, and consider themselves lucky.
He seemed to be a happy person, so all in all, I don't think anyone can cry too much for him.
You know the old cliche about it not mattering how you die but how you live- that applies to him.
