I'm completely new to PLO, but I thought I'd wet my beak a little. Loaded $25, playing 'til I go broke just to get a feel for the game. If anyone is keen to help I could email my entire HH from the session. So onto the hand, is it really terrible? From preflop and beyond...

It is not that -ev. He is probably folding if he doesn't have the flush or KK.

3-bet that hand pf.

I can't tell you how many times I have been called by 9 high flushes in this spot. You're money would have been better spent on reraising pf and potting the flop imo.

I don't like the way you played this hand. I don't think he is folding on the river any hand that beats you, and he is never calling with anything that you beat. For this reason, check-calling is better than betting. If you want to turn your hand into a bluff, then you can check-raise the turn or just lead out on the flop and turn.

This is definitely not a check call.

It is either check/fold or bet/fold and i lean towards betting.

We don't have much of a showdown value so we aren't really turning this hand into a bluff , it is already a bluff. And while betting , we are bluffing not value betting so we don't aim to get called by worse hands. We aim to make better hands like AAxx , Kxxx and occasionally a small flush fold. Also by checking , we give him the opportunity to bluff us.

Even if you get called , it is good for your table image. People rarely remember pot sizes , they will just remember that you bluffed. This will work in your favour when you value bet your hands on river in bigger pots.

Given the action, I doubt villain is ever folding a flush here. He might fold AAxx or Kxxx, but given hero's line, I think you get called by these hands too quite often. The majority of the time that this "bluff" works we have the best hand anyway. I guess it's read-dependent, but I think check-fold and check-call are both superior to betting. Also betting could set us up for getting bluff-raised expensively if villain is creative (unlikely at this level, but not impossible).

But this hand was seriously misplayed even before the river. For example, why did hero check-call the turn?

I'm sure I made errors galore in this hand. Which is why I posted it, to learn. As it says I'm new to omaha. A c/c on the turn can quite easily be taken as draw and I made a bet that looked like I'd hit my flush and wanted paid. I thought it made sense.

Preflop. In HE I'd re-raise QQ or JJ all the time. But in a game I'm unfamiliar with I took a passive route. I think I only re-raised with AAxx and maybe once with KKxx

You become very easy to play against if you only ever 3-bet AAxx. Open up more and 3-bet hands like QQJJ and 789T.
