As many of you on here may remember my mother was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer last year. She is through Chemo and doing well now.

I am participating in a 24 hour cancer fund raiser, called Relay for Life. Our team will walk on June 21st for 24 hours to honor Cancer survivors and raise money for cancer research.

Here is a link to my page. Please donate whatever you can to help out.

My robot team is also participating and the army here on FCP has been very generous.

So this is your first RFL?

My boss was taking donations in exchange for a "jeans day" and a cookbook. I donated $10.

I missed this thread somehow. Donation sent!

I've survived cancer but am luckier than most people because it was caught early enough. Was diagnosed at age 16 and will be cancer-free for 10 years in October this year.

Was more of a general statement. I know I quoted you and then made it...making one believe I was speaking directly to you.. but it was just an across the board statement. Like when Smokey the Bear says "Only YOU can prevent forest fires" --- relieved a lot of pressure off me when I understood that.

Holy Cow... I feel like "way to go" or "awesome" is in order but it doesn't fit. How about... congrats on kicking cancers arse! That's very cool dude.

TY C.J.

And congrats!!!

Doing my walk this Saturday. First lap is at 10:00 and I am doing it with my mom for the Survivor lap. Its probably going to be pretty emotional, but I hope it is uplifting for here.

She is a strong woman and has beat this from her will power but she never really wanted to go any groups or anything like that, but I think it will be good for her to see all of the other survivors walking and possibly share stories!

What the hell? Cancer at 16? What exactly were you diagnosed with?

I had testicular cancer. So yeah, I only got 1 now but it's actually a lot more comfortable than having 2. Plus removing one has zero effect on reproduction.

The funny thing is that my oncologist had talked to me about getting a prosthetic nut. That whole process seemed kinda funny but I passed on that because I didn't want another surgery.

Not sure if any of you guys used to follow Tom Green but I had the same thing he did (as well as Lance Armstrong, but not as serious), and he filmed both his surgeries to show on his show. It was so cool watching the same surgeries I had on TV. One was to remove the tumor and nut. The other one was a surgery to remove some of my lymphnodes because that is where the cancer would have spread to. That involved making an 18" incision starting from my sternum all the way down to my pelvis. Talk about pain after I woke up from that 4 hour surgery. Once the test results of the 'nodes came back negative that meant they were confident the got all the cancer out and that it had a 7% chance of reoccurance, which would be in the lungs if it did come back.

But it's all good now, I kicked it's ass.

It was good, we did the survivor walk in the morning, that was a little emotional, then we had to rush out of there because the track is artificial and has that new age turf (like at Michigan) so at 10:00 AM it was over 100 degrees, and my daughter was about to overheat.

Then my Mom and I went back that evening and walked for a couple hours that evening. If it were not for the heat, we would have hung out for a few hours during the day, but my kids are just too young for that.

All in all a fun time, but wish I could have participated (day of) more.

Not sure what the final tally was our team goal of 5K was short, I think we did 3.5K (thanks FCP!)

I am sure half a mil or more was raised from out region
