Just wondering-

Does this mean entering "Phil Hellmuth" instead of "Phillip Hellmuth" or "Huck Seed" instead of "Huckleberry Seed" pr "Freddy Deeb" instead of "Kasseem Deeb" or "Sammy Farha" instead of "Ihsan Farha" or "Antonio Esfandiari" instead of "Amir Esfandiari" is a DQ? I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this, and why this rule might need a little clarification.

So how do we actually make our selections?

Anyway, the only thing that kinda sucks about 10 players is it forces to you to either seriously gamble it up with lesser knowns and hope to hit big, thus pulling away from the pack, or it forces everyone to play the same 10 guys since you cannot risk Ivey final tabling and having 9/10ths of the field move ahead of you.

Like, who *isn't* picking Allen Cunningham...

IMO, some sort of a tier system ala the FCP fantasy league, or allowing 20-30 players, would've been better and allowed for a little more 'game'.
Shark527
I could've picked Cunningham?! Wait I did.

I agree about everyone picking a lot of the same names but I don't think it will be that close.
I'm sure I have about 5-6 names on my list that will be on a lot of others, Negreanu, Hellmuth, Cunningham, Ivey.

It's really bad for a fantasy league taht everyone is going to pick a good percentage of the same people but I just tried to look at overall results like everyone probably will. It will really boil down to the last 3-4 people on your list that pull through somewhere along the tourney schedule.

I picked Negreanu, Hellmuth, Cunningham and Ivey as well. I believe that I gambled and picked one player who hasn't won a bracelet yet.
AmScray
I picked 3 guys without bracelets and a guy with one bracelet but he won't be one of the 'herd picks'.
I didn't pick Ivey, so my entire team basically hinges on him not hitting, as if he does, I'm behind 95% of the field as soon as it happens.
CobaltBlue
The old contest was great. (Couple of years ago.) I think you got 20 players and then ranked them...which made the whole thing more complicated, but it left for a lot more nuance.

Basically the spelling rule is there to try and keep as many people as possible using the "standard" way that a player is known and to use the real name as opposed to nicknames. We'll be using an excel set up that searches to match names to track the results and the less changes we have to make to what people have entered the better.

If somebody makes an honest spelling mistake and lets us know we can go in and fix it.

We realize that picking only 10 names is a bit simple but that's exactly the way it has to be. The pool from 2 years ago had Darrell basically working on it full time for the entire series and we just weren't going to have something that was going to take somebody a huge amount of time to run.

It was a question of a fairly simple pool or no pool at all.

Oh, I don't mean to be ungrateful. I'm happy to have something this year as opposed to last year when we didn't have anything. I understand what a huge undertaking it must've been. It's my preference to have that system, but thank you for having this one.

Whoever's picking Ivey is making a bad move. You know what Ivey does around WSOP time. He plays the big cash games filled with tourney donks. Ivey only comes out to play 1 or 2 events, so good luck trying to get points off of him.

Oh yes, and all in favor of chipsets being listed as a prize say I.

I.
SlapStick
Anyone have a list handy? I have a general team set up, but I don't want to go through "dammit! I forgot all about him!" And theres definitely a lot of guys I will forget about unless reminded
AmScray
Big fat nay on the chip set.
Assuming it's one or the other, I would much rather have free access to a top poker training site.

Or check out FTP's fantasy draft list.

Next year gimme a heads up a month or two in advance for how you want to work the contest and I can whip up a program (web based) that'll work more like FTP's (a list of people to pick and rank) and make calculating the points as easy as entering the names of the final 16. Kinda too late to do it for this year though.
SlapStick
Yea thanks, I can't actually find the FTP draft, one of the reasons I asked

Nothing will be shown before the deadline for submitting picks.

Any teams that win something will be published and as well we may publish the leading teams as the Series progresses so that you know who you are trying to catch.

In a nanosecond if we had a tier system or more 20-30 picks.
A 10 pick system, no way.

If you want to set up side action that uses a superior system, I'm 100% in for a $50.
UncleBill
Oops. I did it in a hurry and forgot one of my favorites. It's nice to see that my idiocy extends beyond the poker table.
flintsword
You would get a lot more entries if you pinned a list of the top twenty players for each of last year's events, for the lazier types to check out the killers. The $50,000 HORSE Event has all the best multi-game experts so that is a killer list to pick from.

Phil Hellmuth? Not enough No Limit Holdem Events ... bubble_lol.gif ... besides, this year he is going to crash a plane into a lamppost in the parking lot and might not walk away from that crash ... bubble_lol.gif (Just kidding).

Thats a good idea. How about someone create a WSOP $50 thread. Everyone who's interested puts 20 picks or 30 if people want more down. Either winner takes all, or places. All we then need is a trusted member that people can ship the money until the final relevant Torny.

Once your team is submitted you can't change your picks.

I don't need to make a change, but I did misspell "Johnny Chan" so that it came out "Andy Bloch".

That's funny! I think I will be doing a little research before submitting my picks. I don't want any "misspellings" causing me grief smile.gif
HockeyPoker
Yeah but if you notice they are all big buy ins and that will attract Ivey. Thats what he likes to play and it will bring out all the big game hunters and the fish that want to play with the top 25% of the poker world that have the bankrolls and the will to compete against the best of the best which is what these mixed games draw.
karb0nkel
I submitted my list of players that are gonna bring me a nice price. icon_dance.gif
Where can i see my list of heroes??
Azwethinkweiz
The fields are obviously larger, so doing this is only that much more unlikely, but I think the winner of this pool is going to be the player that steps out and gambles with a player(s) that everyone else doesnt have. But, if someone this year pulls a Layne Flack, Ted Forrest, Phil Ivey domination of the WSOP and wins 3 bracelets, and it happens to be a not so top-tier pick, thats what's going to seal the deal.

Like already mentioned and should be understood, alot of people are going to have the EXACT same brackets. If you want to win, stick it in with the 2 outer and gambol. How awesome would it be if someone had a bracket with say 6 winners!

Which reminded me of one of my utopian poker goals. Win 4 bracelets in one year!

Anyone interested in an Excel sheet (done in OpenOffice) that includes:

- All WSOP Events (colorcoded diferent for FCP Point Events and the rest)
- Points per Event
- FCP Event Points
- Non FCP Event Points
- Points for all Events
- Points per Player
- Average Points per Event
- Average Points per Player

(May have SUM Errors in Microsoft Excel)

There's a whole thread below that discusses this.

Check the spam folder of your e-mail address and if a confirmation isn't there then send Governator a Private Message and be patient as it might take a bit for him to get back to you.

IN - confirmation received.

Yes Very Bitter

I really wanted the VT, I still can't deposit so paying for a video site is miles down the road.

And I didnt do too bad in the Euro seeing Schweinstieger was my only eligible player for at least 5 games.

Congrats though,
