I was playing at the Trop in Atlantic City and someone was telling about their famous pink game. It is a $7.50/$15 game played with pink $2.50 chips. The blinds are $5 and $7.50 - the small blind is 2/3 of the big blind. A guy who plays that game often told me that becaues of the blind structure, many more people call preflop, and he claimed that was the correct strategy. He also said frequently there would be 7 or so players seeing the flop. That can't be the right strategy - can it?

There is another game I heard of (Delware Poker Room) where the blinds are $1/$3, but the flop, turn, and river bets are all $5.

How would you change your normal strategy in either of these games? In the ping game, I feel like my normal tight game would work well, although there would probably be a bunch of bad beats (and never fold the SB for one more chip). I guess in the other game, you could chase draws a little bit more since one more card doesn't cost too much. Anything else?

Game one you'd see a lot more flop form the SB.
You'd see marginaly more from other positions, with connectors and suited cards, because you'd expect SB to come in... but that's just like saying, if the game were 13% looser.


Delaware game, you just have higher implied and reversed implied odds to deal with.
See more turns. Expect more slowplying, I assume

I've played in the pink game a few times. It plays loose as heck, as loose as any live 2/4 game I've ever seen. I don't believe it has anything to do with the structure. It's the 2.50 chips.

People think they are playing 3/6 with $1 chips. The game has a reputation for wild, loose action, and the regulars like to enhance that rep (and thus their own as action players) by keeping it moving and building big pots.

I saw something similar in Foxwoods with the $2 chips in the 4/8 game.

Can someone explain to me what is so unusual about the first one?

3/6 at our casino is a 2/3 blind structure, as is 3/6 and 15/30 on AP.

Eh, OK - maybe it isn't that unusual. In my limited personal experience, I've seen mostly the SB at half or less of the BB. It is just that the Pink game has a reputation as being really loose and the only 2 explanations I've been given are the unusual chips or the blind structure and I wasn't sure whether to believe either of those answers.

The 2/3 BB structure does increase the action, fwiw.

the first game is a pretty normal blind structure. sounds like basically a lot of bad, loose players trying to justify their bad play.

im not sure what to think about the second game. preflop is an actual round of betting, and there is no reason it should be smaller than the flop. i guess see a lot more flops with marginal hands, because youll have big implied odds
