Fold. At least that's what I do.

You're not likely scooping with QQ9, you're hand looks weak so you can't force people to fold, you have action in front of you from two players.

I usually dump queens in low limit stud h/l games 90 per cent of the time anyway.

If you haven't, read this I'm sure there are other stud hi/lo articles online, but this would be a good start.

At the low limits, I would just tighten up your starting requirements a bit.

I'm no expert. I'm sure others would be able to give more advice.

Here's an obvious example of where QQ can be played profitably.

Although the boat's nice, I can show up here with just the Q's or two pair and make a profit.

At a full ring table, these spots are harder to find.

foooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooold.

you are surrounded by 3 low door cards, and two door cards higher than your pair.

1. ) You're in a bad position, lots to act behind

2. ) Pots been raised in front of you by a low door.

3. ) Pots been re-raised in front of you by an Ace.

4. ) You kicker isn't a connector. You're going to have to spike a queen, or hit a 2nd pair.. with a 9 already out, that's 4 outs.. 4 outs to make a hand that is going to need to *hold* multiway for *half* the pot once you *draw out*.

I could keep going, but that's enough justification to fold here. Even if you know the re-raiser likes to rep hands more than he likes to show them to you, you're battling 3 way against two draws without a lot of ways to improve. Racing multiple hands for half the pot isn't a desirable spot to be in, and when you factor in that you aren't even on solid ground in thinking you are starting with the best high hand, you're better off waiting for a better spot. Scary board, plenty of unknown action behind you, and unfavorable action ahead of you. Even if it ends up being only a 3 way pot here, you'll need them to catch ugly on 4th and 5th, and even then, where your queens good to begin with?

Remember the ultimate goal in split games: *make profit*. You're desired outcome here is largely to take half the pot. And you will need lady lucky on your side to do that. Why go through 4 streets of uncertainty to break even, when you can do that folding PF? If you consider yourself better than these players, then punish them for playing garbage, don't try and beat them at their own game. I routinely toss TTx JJx QQx when there are more than a couple people to act behind me and I see overcards and low cards in the door surrounding me.

And since I'm officially rambling: your hand is visible. You are going to pray for a queen, and hitting that queen is going to be completely obvious to the rest of the table. And you still might be getting freerolled heads up against a low with a straight/flush draw. If your hand was (QQ)9, you would have a bit more in your arsenal, as you could definitely rep flush and straight cards on your board, and pairing the 9 would also be a good way to iso against a low on the come, repping a set. Another advantage would be: getting paid off by people who "can beat nines" when you are holding queens. The deception allows you to valuebet thin, whereas if you have a queen in the door you are only getting action from people who aren't deathly afraid of queens...

But above all, even putting the 9 in the door, it's not a hand I would even dream about playing against a 6 and an ace popping and re-popping from early position, it's just a losing proposition all around. You'll be gunning to get half and break even, which you accomplish by folding on 3rd and not getting involved in the first place.

What Cappy said. I love people who think QQ-rag is a good stud hi/lo hand on the HORSE tables.

Fold......I almost always fold QQx in Stud8.
