As a few of you may know, I've moved a good chunk of my roll to Absolute Poker (finally got the superuser code obv), and have been checking out their omaha tables the last couple days.

One thing different on AP is that they allow for a "double stack" buyin (ie. $100 buyin for the 25c/50c game).

Wanted to start a general discussion on deeper stacked play and the adjustments that need to be made, etc.

As an example: I was on one .50/$1 table last night with ~200 effective stack and the villain covered. He raised preflop, and I 3-bet with AA97ss. I was only able to make it $15 pre, and he flat called. I ended up folding the QJx flop when I missed my suits as well and he potted it in to me.

This got me to thinking, maybe when this deeply stacked, you're better to not 3bet aces, etc since you can't get as large a % of your stack in, which could make postflop play more complicated. I used this line later on to stack a guy when I again had AAxx and hit an ATx flop. He stacked off with AT and was pretty much drawing dead when the money went in.

Aside from this with AAxx, what other adjustments should I be looking at or making?

I had a ton of success when I played on there (I have no clue WHY I took my money off AP).

Much of it I attribute to the fact I believe I am a MUCH better deep-stack player.

My most obvious change from a single stack to a double stack, is my willingness to see many more limped flops. Since basically you are looking to win the whole stack in any given hand, seeing more flops with connecting cards (I.E. 689J and even 3-connecting cards)

Try laying more value to the hands that create the nuts I guess.

I think that your 3-betting range should tighten considerably, although I wouldn't take it out completely. Having reads on what your opponents will bet/call/raise with and how they will play after the flop is more important in your deepstacked scenario than if everyone is floating around the max buyin.

I would also think your opening range opens up a little bit, no?

I only read half the OP.

I also recently started playing Omahahahahahahaha on AP. I play the 1/2 full ring (once in awhile 6-max), and the action is insane (don't tell any other good players please, and if you are a good player reading this then I'm just kidding, AP is full of sharks).

Anyways, I'm kind of barely rolled for $200 max (30ish buy ins), and definitely not rolled for 400 max. Generally I buy in for 200. About maybe 40% of people buy in for 400, about 30%ish buy in for 150-200 like me, and the other 30% buy in for the min (80).

The most I've gotten up to is about 700 and I stood up after not too long, because in all honesty I just wasn't comfortable with that much on the table (and other players had me covered obv, or it's not an issue). However I don't just stand up when I hit 400, and if I was less of a BR nit I would just sit with 400 since I'm very ++++++ev vs like everybody in that game, imho.

Anyways I will now go read the thread and probably add an edit.

DUDE fcp totally crashed I'm not even joking!!!!

seriously

here is my edit, which i managed to copy smile.gif

EDIT: I like never ever ever 3-bet aces unless it's HU maybe or blind v blind. (SECRET EDIT: That's not totally true, but it's very rare). Basically I don't make too many adjustments when I'm 200+bbs deep, or at least not too many specific ones that I can explain. I guess the thing of it is that the deeper you are the less you want to get it in without a huge monster (post flop), and there are definitely times when you might have to fold the nuts, and a LOT of times when the best play will be just calling with the nuts (on the flop).

Ok hope I didn't ramble too much.

bizzzumped now that FTP has deepstack tables as well....Maybe we can get some more discussion happening.

I played for a bit yesterday - during afternoon/early evening the deep tables weren't that busy but after around 2am eastern time that's almost all that was running. Seems there are a few people who have made the adjustment well, and others who SO obviously haven't. Time will tell I guess, but I'll be frequenting them quite a bit over the next little while.

I disagree with his. I think your 3 betting range should widen up since a 3-bet preflop won't mean all in on flop most of the time. You can 3-bet and play postflop without putting all your whole stack at risk.
