No, it is usual for there to be a BI or a opening bet which is the minimum bet - the same amount that would be the minimum bet on all other rounds.
But NL stud is not a game that has a great amount of playability.
Stud can be played pot limit and is on some sites on line such as B2B but NL that would just be no fun.
