This was at .05/.1 NL, 10 handed. UTG made a .3 raise and there were 3 callers to me in the CO. I called with 3s6s. The button and BB also called.
The flop was 5s6d8s, giving me middle-pair and a flush draw. The pot was 7-handed, so there was 2.10 in the pot, and UTG lead out for 1.50. Two people called and it was on me. What should I do? I know my hand is a coinflip against a single opponent with an over pair, but with 3 opponents I could be drawing dead (if someone has a higher flush draw). Is it worth gambling with a big raise here, or do you play it safe and call? I had around $10 and all other players involved had $6-$10.

I would fold this preflop in a Full Ring (and I already call way too much)

While in the hand you are getting good odds to draw to a flush here... why?
Totally weak opponents?

If you overcall and a icon_suit_spade.gif hits, you will sometimes take it down instantly or loose a big pot.
If you overcall and no spade hits, someone will likely push the button on the turn with a bigger draw or a set giving you bad odds for drawing and making you fold any card that is no 6 or 3.

So calling has a slightly negative EV I think.

I actually fold here. But I overthink too much. I would have probably called UTGs lead if E1 else had folded to me, getting slightly bad odds but feeling better about my chances of actually winning the hand at showdown.

If you raise here any slowplayed set will happily stomp-re-raise you and the bigger draws and perhaps even the overpair will come along, leaving you with no idea where you stand in the hand.

I let this go for 30 cent :-I

Lol, i may be way of but if i'm playing 36s(which i'm not), i'm shoving this flop.

how bad can it be to play 36s for a small raise in a 6-way pot?
Anyway, preflop is what it is.. but if you push the flop, what do you expect to happen? That kind of confused me. I mean, why am I pushing, because I have value if called, or because there's a chance everyone will fold? I'm not sure that either of these statements is true...

In reality, this wouldn't be TERRIBLE call if it was 6-max, not full ring. After a bajillion callers, it's fine at 6 max, but at full ring your hand just blows. It's got a lot of RIO, and you're going to be put to a hard decision unless you flop a boat. You'll lose soooo much more money calling that raise with 63s than you'll make over the long run. Stop watching HSP for poker tips. It's a fun show, but you shouldn't play 63s because Daniel plays it, if that's what you were thinking.

You need to raise, I would push. It's unlikely more than 1 person will call, and if they do, you just learned a free (not really, it was 10 bucks) lesson about why not play 63s in hands like this, because it has a lot of reverse implied odds. Hopefully UTG calls with AsKs and brickzors.

Huh? It doesn't matter at all if this is 6-max or full ring imo, and 36s is like the most un RIO hand there is, seriously, 63s is the complete antithesis of RIO.

I don't think calling in this spot full ring or 6-max both suck.

Call is ok in position with multiple players already in the pot. Great flop and I get it all in. EP probably has an overpair; you just have to hope that two callers in front of you have something like A8 and a straight draw with the 7.

Whenever I flop a FD with a pair, I'm typically getting it in there. Worse case is that your outs are all dead (not likely) but the ranges are wide enough and the pot big enough that it's worth it to shove.

This hand does have a LOT of reverse implied odds when you flop a flush draw in a full ring game, especially in a like 6 way limped pot. The 6 high flush draw is rather weak in fact. Since we flopped a pair too, we just have to get it in and hope that we don't get into a 3 way all-in with another FD and an overpair.

I'm pretty sure that's what the original poster is most afraid of, and this hand, and I would be too. There is a reason that it's better to play these hands in raised pots rather than limped pots, because we limit our competition ad avoid someone coming in behind us with 10s9s or As4s, and kill all of our outs. Also, if one of the callers has the NFD, he's not going to fold even if UTG gets it in after we shove, because it's 10nl and the NFD is the stone nuts, obv.

Yikes.

Pretty standard shove. What else were you hoping to hit?

Calling preflop is hoping for a flop like this, correct? Seeing the turn a spade is not always good, meaning you will lose huge as you hit your hand.

The bigger error IMO is calling pf, esp if you are tight enough to want to check this flop.
