There are currently 3 games left in the FCHL regular season. The three Divisional winners and the next three top point producing teams make the playoffs. Seeds 1 and 2 get a first round bye.
Currently 4 teams have clinched playoffs spots:
Blindsides (Rinswun) won Tugnutt Division
BlackDevilHawks (DaveyG) won Division Supreme
Whalers (Mapleleafpoker)
Lost Cause (AJS510)
The Whalers and Lost Cause are both in Gilmour Div, and the winner of that division will get the first overall seed. The Whalers lead the LC by 3 points with 3 to play.
The Blindsides lead the race for the #2 seed by 1 point over the BDH.
The Shaftsbury Wheat Aled (RMunro) can clinch a berth with a win tonight OR a Broadway (Untilted) loss.
The Newmarket Hurricanes (MapleLeafs) can clinch a berth with a win AND a Broadway loss.
The Altona Maroons (Nell789) are eliminated if they lose or the Hurricanes win.
The asdfjkl; (Ottawa Biatch), Injured Reserve (Fenxis), Tulane Flyers (TunlaneFlyr) and Halifax Moneyshots (DannyG) are all making tee-times in Palm Beach.

it would be fun to somehow have a WORLD SERIES of sorts, AHL champ vs FCHL champ....Not sure if we can work it into the NHL schedule though..
it would be interesting.

Hardly, any FCHL team would smoke any AHL team in a 7 game series.

HUGE night in the FCHL tonight. Broadway keeps his hopes alive with a big win and Hurricane loss. The Blackdevilhawks pull into a tie with the Blindsides for a bye. The Lost Cause pull within one point of first overall. And congrats to the Wheatales for clinching a playoff berth.
Just 2 games left!

Thursday's showdown for first overall is sick, good lineups for both teams:
Lost Cause (Gilmour Division - 44-31-1 - 89 points)
F - Daniel Alfredsson (vs Los Angeles)
F - Martin Erat (vs Vancouver)
F - Ray Whitney (vs Minnesota)
F - Andrei Kostitsyn (vs Phoenix)
F - Michal Handzus (vs Ottawa)
F - Brian Rolston (vs Carolina)
D - Shea Weber (vs Vancouver)
D - Lubomir Visnovsky (vs Ottawa)
D - Filip Kuba (vs Philadelphia)
D - Ryan Whitney (vs Florida)
G - Nashville (vs Vancouver)
Whalers (Gilmour Division - 44-30-2 - 90 points)
F - Vincent Lecavalier (vs Philadelphia)
F - Alex Kovalev (vs Phoenix)
F - Jason Spezza (vs Los Angeles)
F - Marco Sturm (vs Toronto)
F - Markus Naslund (vs Nashville)
F - Teemu Selanne (vs Colorado)
D - Mathieu Schnieder (vs Colorado)
D - Jay Bouwmeester (vs Pittsburgh)
D - Bryan McCabe (vs Boston)
D - Scott Niedermayer (vs Colorado)
G - Phoenix (vs Montreal)
The Lost Cause now control their own destiny for the #1 overall seed in the FCHL and the coveted 1st round bye. With only two games left the formula is clear and it is simple: Win both remaining games and the 1st round bye is ours. Lose against the Whalers on Thursday and there's no shot.
Whomever ends up with the #4 seed is guaranteed a showdown against a very tough Shaftsbury Wheat Ales team in the 1st round.
The players to watch in this Gilmour Division showdown will be Andrei Kostitsyn and Markus Naslund. Any points for those players count as an extra +0.5, as they are shooting against the opposing team's goalies.

pretty sick to tie with the best score of the night, especially when you are playing the number 12 team in the league! oh well, must win the last two games of the season and hope the BDH dont make up 9 goals the last 2 games and i secure my 1st round bye.

Tried to get something going on this twice, but there seemed to be not much interest. Math formula would solve problem of different leagues. We could create a factor of points scored per AHL games compared to FCHL games. We would take that factor and multiply it by the actual score of the FCHL team

When it comes to fantasy sports, there are the math guys and the hockey knowledge guys. I definetly fall under the math category. The people who have both are the ones that dominate fantasy leagues. I don't have enough time to follow many teams so I mostly rely on other peoples resources for information and fall back on the math part of it.
Here is how an AHL/FCHL matchup would work.
Average points per AHL game during entire regular season: 3
Average points per FCHL game during entire regular season: 4
Factor = 3/4 = .75 ( FCHL 4 * .75 = 3 )
Hypothetical matchup would have ARP vs BOB
Game 1 actual score: ARP 3.5 BOB 3
Game 1 score with the above factor: ARP 2.62 ( 3.5 * .75 ) BOB 3

So far this season, the Ales are 4-2 on their guarantees, including a very respectable 1-1 against the MapleLeafs franchise.

This year the number 1 seed in up for grabs still with 2 games left, the number 2 seed wont be settled til the last night, and number 6 will go to the wire has the potential to go to the wire too. great stuff!

Battle for #2:
BlackDevilHawks and Blindsides are tied....BDH play Broadway, Blindsides play Flyers....a win by the Blindsides + a loss by the BDH basically clinches #2 seed and a 1st rd bye
Battle for #6 (final spot)
Hurricanes lead Broadway by 1 point....Hurricanes play the Shafstbury Wheat Ales, broadway play the BDH....win by Hurricanes clinches final playoff spot

Huge win for the Blackdevilhawks tonight. This was a game we thought we were going to lose. It's feels good to take a 2-0 series lead. That makes 12 points in 2 playoff games. The series now shifts north of the border.
The Shaftsbury Wheat Ales tie up their series with the Lost Cause 1-1. The LC just phoned it in, the fans were not very happy. Will the long trip play a role in this series?

Big win for the Hurricanes, helped by Sid not playing and Sundin taken to the locker room and not returning.
The Lost Cause loss was not because of a lack effort, just a short bench.
