I've got the entire season to this point on my DVR. I have a friend who highly recommends it.

I haven't watched it yet. I'm a terrible person.

Bryan Cranston, the dad from Malcom in the Middle, is incredible in it. The guy has some serious acting chops.

It's very interesting that the episodes have muted curse words, as opposed to writing the whole thing clean. I like that and wonder if they'll release DVDs with the vulgarity included.

I love that guy...I may have to give the series a shot.

Its a great show..havent seen sundays episode yet(on tivo)but will watch it today.....cant go wrong with "Tim Watley" as a crystal meth dealer and a family man...solid solid show.
timwakefield
Wowwow, I just watched the first 2 episodes. This show is the nuts. Seriously, really really good.

I loved that guy on Malcolm in the Middle (I didn't totally love the show, but he ruled), and on the previews and ads for breaking bad I kinda thought he was just playing the same type of character. Not at all.

This show is really really good.

The pilot (or at least the first episode) has gotta be the best pilot for any show I've ever seen. BTW there is an "uncensored" version of episode 1 which I think played in IFC? Anyways it is on the torrent sites, and I think it might be extended or whatever...worth getting.

I'm gonna say yes, and at least 2 "uncensored" episodes are available now (on torrent sites).

Also I think there was some titty in episode 1.

- Yeah nothin but cows, got some big cow house way out that way like two miles, but I don't see nobody.

- Cow house??

- Yeah, where they live. The cows. Whatever man. Shit yeah, let's cook here.

- Cow house...god help me.
loogie
Ken Wins is the same guy from those commercials where a guy keeps redoing a voicemail to a girl he went out with the night before....I think. His resume must list Talking on a Cellphone as one of his special skills.
timwakefield
Spoilers through episode 5!!!!!

Episode 3 (i think) where he finally kills the guy - what a great scene with the plate and everything. I have to say I did just expect him to poison a sandwich, until they started talking about that. I mean it was clear that he couldn't let the guy go...or at least the writers couldn't let the guy live. I also liked episode 5 a lot - I thought the party scene was really good, and the whole backstory with the girl and the company and all.

Reading the plot it sounds exactly like a knock off of "Weeds". Is it better? Not comedy? More dramatic? Convince me to watch it...

It's from the same creator, I believe. No, it's not really very comical. I'm not going to try to talk you into anything.

The first couple episodes are pretty funny, but there's also some pretty serious/heart-wrenching scenes, what with the cancer and all (not a spoiler - basic plot of the show is that he has cancer).

It is very good though, a lot more entertaining than Weeds imo.

It almost has to be more serious than Weeds considering it's about crystal meth as opposed to pot.

Helluva drug.

Good episode last night I thought.

Goddam that Skinny Pete.

Yeah awesome episode. Funniest part:

Real estate lady: Oh hello, it's by appointment only.

Walter: No, I'm here to see the owner.

Real estate lady: Oh, he's in the, um....recreational vehicle.

...Knock knock

Jesse: Yooooooooo, it's appointment only!

Also the meet at the junkyard was a great scene. "Dude this is like the straight guy's idea of a drug meet." "Why the hell are we way out here? Is the mall closed or something?"
Dirtydutch
...But yes, Coesillian, it's excellent.

It felt like such a short season. I'm assuming the writer's strike is why.

Yeah, very short season. My theory (based on nothing) is that it's partially because it's a new show so they wanted to see if it would be popular or not, and partially because of the writer's strike. Either way, the show is very popular so I'm sure they've got season 2 coming soon (hopefully not in like September).
Dirtydutch
Were there only 7 episodes, or am I just not looking hard enough for 8?
coesillian
i thin k I'm going to watch the pilot now...

Only 7. Check out the uncensored versions though if you like swears and boobs.
coesillian
I've watched a couple episodes and his is a good series. It touches close to home since many of of my family members have had cancer and i lost my mother to cancer when I was 10. Deep down i expect to get cancer one day, and if not I would expect my kin to to die of cancer, just like my grand parents lost their child. This is a good series, reminds me a bit of Life as a House, good movie too, I definetly recommend it.

not that you'd know

finally got around to watching the last six episodes

definitely my favourite moment was him throwing the fulminated mercury

I wonder where they're going to take it next season. I'm sure they'll be cooking and everything will go fine. Eventually, Walt will get healthy and whathisname will go straight and get his college degree with help from Mr. White.
ROACHBABY
Looks like season 2 is coming out at the beginning of 2009.
king_tanner
Wow this show is awesome. Season 2 is premiering on Sunday.

For those of you with On Demand, all of season 1 is for free under TV Entertainment... then AMC.
owise1
looking forward to the new season ohmy.gif

Episode was great tonight. Tuco is a psycho mf'er lol.

coesillian
sweet, I appreciate this show. It's quirky, simple and weird. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.

Thanks for the heads up.

I thought last night's episode was outstanding. I'm going to miss Tuco though. He was so entertaining. How long is this show supposed to last? It seems like there is an end always just around the corner, like Walt has to die sometime soon right? Isn't the brother-in-law getting awfully close? I guess we will find out.

There is plenty of storyline left. I don't think that much time has gone by in the show since he was diagnosed. The brother in law keeps getting close, but Walt isn't even on his radar yet. I think in the next episode the 2 will be trying to cover up their steps, Walt will definitely have a lot of explaining to do though lol.

I'm definitely going to miss Tuco also. That guy did a great acting job. His "tio" looked like Fred Sanford lol.
timwakefield
Excellent show, excellent first couple episodes of season 2. While I agree that it does almost seem like everything's about to blow up and be discovered, I don't think that's the case. Walt could last for awhile, or could in fact end up being cured. I agree that I don't think too much time has passed on the show. Anyways, awesome show, it'll be interesting to see what excuses Walt comes up with, or if he finally comes clean to his wife.
king_tanner
I thought Jesse was so screwed when Tuco's grandpa showed up. I wonder what the grandpa's reason was for not telling the truth. Was it because he thought Tuco really was a scumbag and deserved it? Or was it because he had spent a long time in jail, and wouldn't tell the truth to a cop no matter what.

the cops mentioned he was one of the old school mexican gangsters or something, and they don't tell the police shit.

I downloaded and watched season 1 a couple weeks ago and really thought it was well done even with only 8 episodes. There's supposed to be like 17 or something this season so that should be fun.

Yea I saw that part. I just thought that since it was a family member that got killed that he might have told on Jesse. But it did seem like Tuco was a dick to him which led me to believe that he didn't like Tuco anyways which could have been another reason why he didn't tell on Jesse.

Have not read the thread...

My roommate and I picked up the DVD of this based on some positive word of mouth, we watched the first 4 episodes over the last two days. Pretty good show.

I finally watched Season 2 Ep 1, but that's the only episode AMC has online currently. Hopefully, I can catch up soon.

I'm still catching up with the episodes, so I haven't read this thread, afraid of spoilers. But it everytime I see that DEA Brother in law, I think of world famous stunt man, scott roland.

next weeks episode looks like it'll be an interesting one "there is no our money". oh cranston you crazy
king_tanner
I don't get why Jesse keeps relying on Walt. I know he probably doesn't have anywhere else to go, but he is in deep shit with cops, family, and now this junkyard guy. He knows how to cook himself now, why doesn't he just skip town?
king_tanner
Again after this week, I can't see their new dealing arrangement working, especially with Badger. The three guys are junkies themselves, Jesse shouldn't be trusting them.

Even though it is good for Walt that they are raking in money again, it is going to get worse for his relationship with Skylar, and things are already pretty bad.

Looking forward to Jesse turning into a badass next week when he has to deal with the people who robbed Skinny Pete... also Jesse's landlord is hot!
Jadaki
Almost caught up with the series. Finished season 1 last night and started on season 2. Hooray for OnDemand.
gilbertology
I really enjoyed the last episode. I love Jesse's character more and more every week. I think they've developed him well in season 2. Walt kind of perplexes me with some of the things he does, like insisting Jesse "handle" the situation. I mean, shit happens now and then and losing an o doesn't hurt their bottom line much. Plus it's not like those junkies are gonna go around to Jesse's other clientele saying how easy they are to rob. But I do agree Jesse's crew is pretty inept and will cause more problems in the future.

Yea Jesse is great, I'm thinking he should deserve some supporting actor attention at the next awards show.

I know he needs money to get back on his feet, but I don't get why he is still in town. He now knows how to cook, and he is on the DEA's shitlist, it only seems like things are going from bad to worse with him. If I were him I wouldn't take any of Walt's shit and just move somewhere else. I think a part of him really wants to make amends with his family which could be a reason why he staying.
