Thats roughly one buyin, so the best recommendation is just to run hot. As for cardrooms, 1/2 is the smallest I know of, but your not gonna find a particularly tuff game at that level in Vegas. I think Zach mentioned something about a $40-80 buyin game at the stratosphere, if you like fliping coins.

Borgata.

I've never been, but don't expect to find a game lower than 1/2. Also, I know every college kid likes to go on poker trips with a few hundred (I know I have), but unless you plan on running like god, you better play superass tight.
Russak23
Games are going to be pretty dry and not much action on a Muuuunday. Borgata will have the most tables running and give you the best experience for sure. Mulitple games will be running at Trop, Taj, and Caesars too if you'd like to stay along the strip. GL
krup24
Borgata for sure. i was highly impressed with their cardroom.

not too far. you may want to consider buying in short to avoid one huge cooler to end the trip.

Yeah, I would say break it up into 3 to 5 buyins and pretend you are in Los Angeles (where $40 buyin for $1/$2 NL is the norm).
kkjeff
Id say with only 250 Id stick to a small limit game to try and make a liitle more, before playing no limit. from my experience id seen many people buy in for 200 and go broke within a half hour... But that is up at Foxwoods . Atlantic city might be a little different. By the way I was at foxwoods on Sat and at 6pm there were 289 people on the list to play 1-2 no limit .. Good luck in Ac

Sorry I missed this thread...

Borgata is alright, but very overrated. I guess it all depends on when / what time you go down. Borgata's best n00b/retard traffic is late friday nights and Sat afternoon.

The softest 1/2 game overall is definitely in the Hilton... rake is a little higher there but well worth it. (plus they actually serve you food at the tables too)

I'll keep this in mind - I'm thinking about going back to AC while I'm on Spring+Easter break (weeeeeee for 2 weeks off)
LycoPoker54
I made $325 Monday Night, Lost $350 Tuesday afternoon, and made $175 Tuesday Night. Overall +150. All 1/2 NL.

The first night my table was pretty ridiculous, with the average preflop raise about $14. I bought in for $150 (Max was 300, I brought 250 to play with). Basically just played tight, played good hands aggressively. won big pots with AA and KK. also picked up KK UTG, and called. player to my left made it 10, and got 5 callers, haha. I popped it to $60, and everyone folded. also won a $175 pot when I had K 10 in the big blind. About 5 callers, and I checked. flop came K3K. I checked, guy to my left bet 15. everyone else folded, i called. turn came an 8. I checked, he went all in for $60. I called, he flipped over K4. So that was a nice way to end my first live session.

Next day I just got unlucky. Raised to 12 preflop with AKs. This girl called (her boyfriend was there, trying to teach her how to play. she had made soooo many bad plays so far). flop came A84. I bet 21, she goes all in for 65 more. I call, and she flips over A8. 2 hands later, her boyfriend makes it 12 to go, and i have 10 10 on the button. I call, 1 other guy calls. flop is 973, one club. first guy checks, the boyfriend bets 25 (he has about 60 behind). I think for a little bit, and push him all in. He instacalls with AK clubs. turn and river are both clubs, obviously. Last hand I had about 60 left. Get AQ UTG. I make it 13, get 2 callers. flop comes Q34. I make it 20, and second guy shoves. I call, he flips over 44, im out 350 on the afternoon.

Later that night i sit down at a table of pretty solid players. I double up with 99 on a 2367 10 board. Last hand I played, I picked up 22 in the big blind. Its raised to 12, 3 callers, and I call. flop comes 2s3s4c. I check, player to my left bets 20, player to his left bets 50. I think for a little bit, and make it 100. first better folds, other players thinks for about 3 minutes, and folds 25. says he put me on a straight.

Anyway, those were some of the memorable hands. I know, i know, BBFIDTS. just trying to share about my trip. It was a great first experience, met a lot of cool people, had a good time. Definately looking to go back soon :-)

comments on the hands, comments on AC, comments on anything.....?

At the Borgata?

ummmm

have you seen the poker room?

it's huge, there are always at least 50 some games running. Pick a stake, a game, and you'll get action.

There are lots of them from low limits up to very high limits. I think they start at 2/4, I know they run 5/10 and it goes up to at least 80/160 and often higher.

Yeah Borgata AINEC. Mega-coolers are really your only enemy at <= 5/10NL. Play is so exploitable. Not really much to do outside of gaming really IMO. I really like the resturants at the Trop but I haven't eaten really much at Borgata besides the buffet which is good. I don't play tournaments so I'm afraid if you're looking for info on that I'm not much help. I've played a few sng's at Borgata however and they were ok, fast obv, but ok. If you stay on the boardwalk, don't do a lot of walking at night. I've spent many a 3am running the boardwalk back to whereever I was staying with stuffed socks. It's not easy to run with stuffed stocks.

And LOL. Don't they have player safes or someplace for you to secure your money on-site?

Prolly but I'm old school....not many things are better than running back to your hotel room to re-count your moneys and hope a Skinemax movie is on.

I lived halfway between the two (actually 1/2 hour closer to AC) and I would take Foxwoods over any AC casino for poker.

He won in his first live session.

With the following:

AA v AK, huge sweat on flop for $150 or so (Forget specifics, but he flopped nut flush draw, I think he picked up a Royal draw and Straight draw on the turn.)

I get AK and fold to a 3rd raise (he opens, I 3 bet, he repops, I fold since I'm a nit), fold a bunch of other crap.

I finish the session with set over set on 543 board (My 5's v other guy's 4's), then go home and watch High Stakes Poker.

After that, in order:

Turning Stone: KK v AA AIPF @ 100 Max 1/2 and $65 tourney where I don't cash (3800 @ 400/800 75, I shipped it in with 66 v an EP raiser who had QQ, guy a few seats to my left overcalls with AJ), I have 10 outs twice on a flop of 578 and miss all of them.

Borgata: I run into quads twice in 4 hours.

Donking Stone revisited: 2/4 LHE, I'm breaking even after about 5 hours, J3 rivers my A7 (J3 limp/calling FTW) and I tilt my ass off in an hour.

Donking Stone, last visit: I drop a little more than 200 playing 1/2 NLHE (note to self: ISANLHE Cash Games) and 2/4 LHE. I had the worst LHE table imaginable - it was 6 handed for a while and there were STILL 5 people...who played EVERY fucking hand. I'm sorry, but NOBODY has hands that are good enough to see EVERY flop in a 6 handed game. I was down to $40 or so at that table, worked it back up to $93 before I left - I ran really really hot with one of the dealers.

I hate 2/4 LHE though; you cannot bluff these people. I had 74o in the BB, checked option, the board had 4 to Broadway on the river, nitty black woman checks to me, I toss in $4 on a bluff, she says "I wanna see", I instamuck. I did get a ton of bets off a set of Aces when my K5 flopped the nut flush though.

My next stop is hopefully Foxwoods next month. Maybe I'll win a few thousand on the Stud tables.
