Willing 2 Die
Villian and Hero have been playing together for about an hour and half. Villian is a limp donk, and does not raise PF. Villian seems like your average 1-2 NL player. On second hand at the table (Hero not involved in hand), Villian called a PF raise with 44 in position, called a $20 CB on a 2,10,2 board and on the turn which was a 4, moved all-in on top of a $40 bet for $120 total. Villian is making money today. Hero has a slight history with Villian. With AJ, Hero raised to $13 PF with Villian in BB. On Ah,10h,2x board, Villian bet $10 and folded to my $30 raise. Later, Villian attempted a $15 bluff on river with a missed diamond draw (9,5dd) on a 6d,8d,10x 2x 3x board with Hero calling down two bets with 8,7. Villian seems very weak tight passive Preflop, and Hero has noticed that Villian has not shown down bluffs since Hero called him before.

My Cards are Kd,10 off.

Effective Stacks:

Villian: $700
Hero: $400

Preflop: Villian raises to $6 UTG, several calls, Hero calls on Button.

Flop (Pot~$26)

Kc, Kh, 10c

Villian checks, limpers check, Hero bets $15, Villian calls $15, two folds.

Turn: Ac

Villian checks, Hero bets $40, Villian calls.

River: Qx

Villian checks, Hero bets $75, Villian is handling chips as soon as Hero puts his money in, waits for 3 seconds and stacks 5 green on top of 20 red making it $225 to go.

I'm shoving here, if he has a better boat then so be it but it smells more like a straight to me.

shove all in AINEC

How the hell are you ever gonna fold this? A straight or flush are possible...maybe he has TT.

But if he has a better boat, then what can you do right? He wins a big pot off you. Sometimes coolers happen icon_confused.gif

...but I'm not sure I would push all in. I would just call here.

Oh, my apologies for teh lame thread title. I think i've used it before but i'm so bad at titling threads.

Would he push with a flush or straight? I think he would flat here with either. I'm not really putting him on a QJcc because he doesn't raise hands like that, and he can't have the AcJc.

I would agree with this. I don't feel comfortable reraising without the nuts here.

Get comfortable with it. I would shove here. He doesn't have that much more left and is definitely committed to call and he can easily have a flush or straight or even a lesser full house like Ts full or Qs full. You have the 3rd nuts on a board where every manner of hand is possible against a guy who will be committed to call with worse.

I know that the reason that this hand is posted is because:
1. You called/shoved and lost (most likely)
2. You called and he showed a straight or flush and you felt you missed value

If he beat your hand, live with it. People play horrible.

In a 2/5 game, the following hand happened:

3 limps, I limp OTB with 85hh. The flop comes 558 with 2 spades. Checks to me, I bet $5 and get 2 calls. Turn is a 9o, checks to me, I bet $15 and get 1 caller. River is the 6s, completing the flush and putting a 4 card straight out there. My opponent quickly overbets the pot to $100 of his $190. I shove. He calls with 97, no spades for the 1 card straight on a board that was paired with a 3 flush.

People are dumber than you think and you should be shoving here unless he's a super nit, which it would appear that he is not.

[x] in hindsight embarrassed to say he folded after 10 sec of thought

[x] Hero showed muck to table

[ ] Villian showed cards to table

[x] Villian later said the turn was very good to him, and when probed further said he had AK

[x] Will never know if Villian was actually telling the truth

Wow.

I needed the pot to be bigger but didn't want anyone to fold. I figured nobody folds in LHE, so I'd try that approach!

I haven't been able to shrug this off, and probably won't for quite a while.

I get so few opportunities to play, so i play very careful sometimes. This is the biggest hand i've had to lay down and i don't lay down many hands.

Who knows if Villian felt sorry for me and was telling me what i needed to hear. icon_confused.gif

Yea, in hindsight it was really bad. I guess i just had it made up in my mind that i was beat, as i just could not see this villian raising me like that with a straight.

I showed the hand to him in hopes that he would show me his cards for peace of mind. But he didn't. I don't normally show my cards but this way i hoped he would do the same to confirm my insanity/good fold.

I don't think I could ever fold that in a billion years. Not unless I could see Villain's cards in a mirror or something. Haha.
