Villain is new to the table and I don't have any reads/notes. This question is mostly about the turn, but as played the river gives us some options too, so feel free to answer how you like to play them both.

I like the play,

Looks like utg is making a blocker bet on the river if i had to guess with something like aj.

I just bet the turn under the assumption that I've made the best hand the vast majority of the time and would like to get value for my hand from AJ/QJ/flush draws/other random hands he's calling with.

I think that most of the time any overpair would reriase us on the flop. So, if I'm not betting the turn, I'm certainly calling the river. I don't think this is a true WA/WB situation on the turn because he often has hands that will certainly pay us another bet on the turn and even if we don't happen to be best, we know we have outs.

I'm fine with checking the turn, but i think you have/should call this river if you do.

I like the way you played it all round, i'd probably bet the turn here cause i has a pair but i think checking's fine as well.

...and then puke a little when we get shoved on? I mean, I do agree with you that we've got the best hand a lot now, and if we didn't have the FD, I'd be inclined to bet. I just prefer checking here for pot control with the plan to call almost every river. If he's got a flush draw, we'll probably still get the money on the river. If it gets there, we'll probably stack him. If it doesn't, we can probably get him to take a shot at bluffing.

I like the way the hand was played all around. I think we certainly need to call the river after checking the turn.

Pretty much. I think that the times that this happens coupled with the number of outs that we have to make the best hand against his hand still make this a profitable play.

I guess it works well for us both ways in terms of balancing ranges, in that he will have to consider that we are checking behind strong hands on the turn and it will make his range slightly more polarized when he bets the river into us in the future.

I don't dislike anything about the hand, I think I just marginally prefer betting the turn over checking it. He obviously is calling the river after checking the turn.

this is one of those spots where i'd raise the river.

reasons for just calling though more so in this spot, are cause the raiser is UTG, and we don't have a solid read and so he doesn't on you...but if this guy had opened CO and you called BTN, or even raised MP and you called behind, I think i'd be raising this river like every time as played...

but it's also the kinda thing where you kinda want villain to know that you can do this with air too, and not strong hands (tp being strong)...so meh, kinda depends on your style too. i dont know how often you bluff raise, and at these stakes may not really be necc...
