Oh, I understand why. But it's obviously not just that...people didn't hate on any Boston sports teams until they started winning (plus there's the cheating thing). It's human nature to find a reason to dislike winners when you're not one of them.

LOL

"Oh, and as a sidenote, they cheated.."

Speedz' Response: All teams steal signs, they just got caught.

Erik's response: Not all teams use video recorders.

Speedz: Still won 3 Super Bowls.

Erik: Vince Lombardi.

Speedz: Bill Bellicheck

Erik: (speechless)

/back and forth

And in case it's not clear, I think their cheating is the most blatant, understandable reason why people hate them..not that people don't like winners.

I'm with you so far. Because, you know, from my point of view it doesn't matter at all that they got caught cheating (especially in a way that virtually all former players and coaches admit is gamesmanship that goes on with every team). Regardless of how you phrase it, and to what extent any one person believes the cheating went, it doesn't change how much fun I had during those three wins. Hate all you want, I'm still happier with my team this decade than any other fan can be with theirs.

You're wrong about the fact that winning doesn't breed hate. I refuse to believe that you even could possibly think that...you can't be that naiive.

But of course the cheating is a huge reason. Just one of many...

I dislike them only because of douchey fans. I was even prepared to root for them to go 19-0, but the doucheyness of certain fans from rl and il made me change my stance. I have no problem with dynasty success.

I do feel bad for the players and coaches because all their work went for naught.

No, cheating is a big part, but yeah..you're right..

Winning does breed hate. But nothing breeds hate more than a winner that's an ass(Steinbrenner?). Bellikryszewski came off as an ass this year..thus the hate.

WOOOO HOOOOO!

GO GIANTS!!!!

New York is pretty crazy right now. I just walked past Time Square and through Union Square and they're mobbed. Cars are honking horns, people are screaming in the streets. I saw a garbage truck stop in the middle of the street, start honking his horn, and open his door. A ton of people formed around him, they started climbing on the car chanting "Boston Sucks, Boston Sucks." They literally were on top of the garbage truck jumping up and down, and it was shaking. Eventually the cops came and everybody ran.

The whole night is pretty amazing. It's a good feeling to be in this city right now.

I liked the Patriots long before it was cool to like them. Back in the days of Jim Plunkett if anyone remembers back that far. But the whole cheating thing left a sour taste in my mouth. Plus the Giants were supposed to lose by a ton and I always tend to cheer for the underdog. And I like a good game and this one was a GREAT game. Had all the drama a Superbowl is supposed to have. biggrin.gif

Ha! The tides have officially turned in the New York/Boston sports scene. That's great. I remember the good old days when we were the underdogs, not the dominant bad guys.

This loss is 1000% more satisfying that it was against the Patriots. The Giants beat the Patriots, no BS, no bad call, nothing, they simply outplayed them this game, and have always outclassed them as a franchise all along.

This loss for the Pats is worse than the 2004 loss by the Yankees. No quoestion.

LOL. You people are ridiculous and have no sense of history when you're caught up in the moment.

Like LLY said, if anything, that puts NY and Boston even in terms of upsets. Yeah, this was one big game, but down 3-0 in a series on the way to a first championships in almost a century certainly isn't BELOW the totem pole here.

Why can't they cheer "New York is good, New York is good"? Why are they focused on Boston? New York is the city that just won. They should focus on the team that won not the team that lost, especially when the team that won is their own. If the Patriots would have won nobody in New England would have been chanting "New York Sucks".

You should love us (or at least me). Even in losing I know that my team is better than yours (most of you aren't Giants fans), and by extension I'm better than you.

Who needs a consolation prize? If anything you should be sad about the fact that I care much less about this loss than most of you do, since I'm already part of one of the greatest sports decades in any city's history. It's good to be me.

I honestly cant count the # of times in my life I have heard a group of Boston fans chant "New York sucks". It is that high. I am glad you have the power to speak for all of Boston and let us know the city is over a half century grudge. give me a break.

By the way, take a bow for being almost solely responsible for all the HATE coming the Pats way in this forum. Sorry Speedz, it is Boston fans like this guy who make us so hate crazy. I respect the Pats season but I couldnt be happier they got so close and lost.

New York just get's a lot of hate from the rest of the country in terms of sports, I thought it was funny that we got a chance to dish some out ourselves. Nothing personal, I'm sure Boston's a decent city (if you don't plan to drive through it, that is).

I'm happy for Eli Manning. I've always liked him and felt that he got a lot of negative attention he didnt deserve. Some he did of course, but most (I feel) he didnt.

I'm also happy that the Patriots lost. I do not like Belichek at all. He is just such an asshole, I cant see how anyone not from Boston could like them with that guy as coach. Getting caught cheating and handling it the way he did didnt help either.
