I fucked up my knee and have no idea how. It has locked up on me 3 times today. I am guessing it is from not stretching good enough and my groins are super tight and pulling on the ligament that attach to my knees. So I am going to have to take a small hiatus to make sure this is not something serious.
I have been working out, just busy and also doing a lot of pyiscal yard and house labor for myself and parents.

My knee is better so I have been doing some stuff.
You know its ok to have an off day with food, even on the Biggest Loser, they give them the day after there weigh ins to have some comfort food, it keeps there bodies guessing and there mentality up to.
Your prob is the one I have had my adult life, I eat well during the week, then on the weekends I want pizza and beer and I don't just do one night, its all of them. Try and keep the splurging to one day on the weekend and you will do better.

yep thats the problem. once friday afternoon gets here, there's just no stopping. the thing is, I know I'm gonna go out drinking, and if I'm going out drinking, I can't do that on a salad in my stomach. I ain't trying to blow chunks. and from there on, I just eat what I want. on the plus side, i mainly only buy healthy food, so I just eat a lot of basically healthy food.

I was going to start a thread back when this first popped up, entitled "The Official I'll Never Join a Gym Under Any Plausible Condition Thread," but then I also realized I'd never get laid under any condition...though I supposed skinny as I am, this fact was more due to my personality than physical condition...then I pushed it out of my head, booted NHL 2008, and created myself as a 7'1", 300lbs. defensiveman with a 120mph blast. I won the Norris Trophy, the Hart Trophy and the Conn Smyth (sps?) in my rookie year, and the Stanley Cup the next.

Holy shit, there's activity in here again.
Glad to hear people are still at it. I've been three times this week, taking tonight off. On the eating healthy thing, I realized a long time ago that I'm never going to have a perfectly healthy diet so if I generally eat well then I have no problem drinking a bunch of beer and inhaling some Taco Bell when I want to. I'm never going to stop drinking beer on a regular basis, so I just try to limit the amount of shitty food I eat as much as I can. Keeping the sugary stuff to a minimum really helps.
Since I started running again in January, I've noticed significant progress that I'm pretty happy about. I'm running the Bolder Boulder on Memorial Day (10k race) and my goal is to beat my best time in it (about 48 minutes). We'll see.
But considering that I spent basically two years doing pretty much nothing and eating horribly, it's nice to feel in decent shape again.

Exactly. If you'd "like to really regroup", then do it. Other stuff comes up, sure, but if you want to do it then don't make excuses. When you leave the gym after feeling like not going, it's a good feeling.

Staying active in any way is never a bad thing and with the way you diet, you've got nothing to worry about. Eat a cheeseburger.
I've been running way more than usual because right now I'm just busting my ass getting ready for a race (we'll see how well I keep this pace up after that). Nice work, it's a good sign that you actually want healthier food.

that is actually a pretty interesting side effect. in the same aspect, if you get in a really good workout, you tend to not want to ruin it with crap food. and it makes you feel better to eat better, so thats another plus.

yeah its definitely best to move from exercise to exercise with little to no rest. next time you go, look at all the exercises you're doing (I'm assuming weights too?), then write out a sequential regimen to use the next time, and keep the routine going so you can move smoothly between exercises. be sure to switch it up every now and again though, at least every month. a) it keeps you from getting bored, and
b) your muscles get used to repetitive movements and the same exercises over and over again in the same progression will begin to lose effectiveness after time. also, most studies point to more calories and fat burned and better overall workouts by doing cardio after weight training.

I can't because my LDL is elevated.
I had some tests run last week and my LDL is 18 points up. I lost 40 pounds by eliminating nearly all the crap from my diet and I make sure I get more than enough fiber, but I can't fight genetics, apparently.

El Guapo introduced a workout regime that he got from Men's Health. It's a four-step program with four weeks at each step. Starts building muscle slowly then ramps it up, it's pretty good, not too strenuous.

I'm actually running the marathon in Ottawa on May 25th.
I run 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday). About 12k on the Monday and Wednesday just running for distance at a steady space. Then the Friday, I usually run sprints for about 10k.
Then the other 3 days a week (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday), I usually cross-train rollerblading or if it's raining outside I'll use the elipitical.
Sunday is off.
Hope that helps, I'd be happy to answer any other questions for you.

I checked out all the different gyms in my area over the past week. I finally narrowed it down to the one I will be joining today. I will have 2 free sessions with a personal trainer to start me on a program since I haven't a clue where to start.
I have been trying to lose weight for the past 2 months. I have been almost religious in eating 1200 calories a day and using my eliptical machine. I unfortunately only dropped 6 Lbs in that time. The weight just wouldn't come off. I had a feeling it had a lot to do with my hormones etc.. since all females except Nikki seem to not be able to drop weight very well..
I got off all my birth control since I had my tubes tied 2 weeks ago and have already dropped 4 more Lbs making a total of 10.
My goal is to lose 15 more Lbs (or more! but the actual goal is 15) and to tighten and tone what little I can that doesn't require plastic surgery. I am hoping that I get results that I didn't know I could in some areas.
I know so far that I definately want do fat burning cardio, but I definately want to do weight training as well. I am going to bring up a circuit training program with the trainer to see if that would be good for me since it combines weights but keeps you moving so that it burns fat also. They offer some really good classes at this gym and I am going to give all of them a shot at least once to see how I like it. I have never done classes when I had other gym memberships so this will be a first. They offer over 20 different clases..639 kick (which works all 639 muscles in the body), Yoga, Pilates, Yogilates, Zumba, Ab-solution, kick boxing, Rock bottom (lower body work out), The Ride (cycling class) and my personal favorite that I saw on the list.. Belly Dancing!
Since I don't know when my session with the personal trainer is, I will go in there and get a feel for the place, do some cardio machines and check out whatever class is running.
Wish me luck!
