I've been a Simpsons fan for about 15 years...but recently heard my teenagers guffawing like mad in the game room so I had to check it out. FAMILY GUY may be one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.
Check you maturity cloak at the front door and just enjoy it.
We bought the first few seasons on DVD... no idea how long this has been on TV. I think it has been for a few years atleast.

No-I think it's more like Step by Step.

heh, what they said. But in his defense, most people's parents have no clue what family guy is. I think my parents just watched it for the first time over Christmas (because I had it on). Probably happens a lot.

There's gold in San Francisco. I'm rounding up a team of miners and we are going to head out in a few weeks to get rich. WHO'S IN??

I'm down. Also, I think there is this new company called Microsoft-anyone think it is a good investment?

No offense, OP, but is this thread for real?

Anyone remember the first 8 months of this forum, where at least 65% of the posters had FG avatars? And that was no where near representative of the percentage of assholes in every dorm room in America who were bent over at the waist with Family Guy-boners. The show's hype really took a lot away from it, once it hit Cartoon Network.

LOL... no. Good gawd.
Sure is fun watching people try to be funnier than the last.

The "moon" comment was the best. All who followed were lame.

"There's gold in ....." <-- Lame Award --- congrats

On a separate note, I just bought Star Wars: Blue Harvest-the family guy parody of A New Hope, and it is great. It is hilarious and it comes with a digital copy that you can put into your iphone. I watched a couple of the extras, which included an interview with Geroge Lucas-he really likes Family Guy. For every Star Wars moment in any Family Guy episode, Family Guy needs to get permission from Star Wars and they have always said yes, so they just decided to make this hour long episode.

Best family guy quote ever. Stewie to a hooker at Quagmyre's place:

So, is there any tread left on the tires, or is it like throwing a hotdog down a hallway?

Classic Stewie.

My favorite Stewie moment: I think it's in the episode called "A Road to Rhode Island"
Stewie and Brian are in a motel and they want to call Lois to get money wired to them.
Stewie: 867-5309. I hate that stupid song.
Stewie: 111-1111. Lois? Damn!
Stewie: 111-1112. Lois? Damn!
Stewie: 111-1113. Lois? Damn!

Family Guy has been fairly repetitive recently, but the Office Space scene in this last one was wonderful.

I had a housemate back in uni, complete Simpsons die hard fan, we used to watch Family Guy and refused to get into it - one night we watched one with him, never seen him laugh so much in the 4years i've know him

FG is the funniest show in the history of television, without any close competition.
I too discovered it subsequent to its initial production run (but before its return to new production), as a result of cartoon network showings.
FG is the first time in my life when a show has a sense of humor that is completely synergistic with my own. The only thing better would be if they were a cable show and could really take the gloves off. The fact that "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein" wasn't allowed to air in networks really shows what kind of constraints they're working under.

At times, the "... like that one time, when...." deeply esoteric, random pop culture references can get a bit overdone, but overall, it's the best show ever IMO. Their seamless vacillation between totally base toilet type humor and 1% humor makes for a very remarkable show.

If the Simpsons is a glass of the finest wine, Family Guy is a kilogram of heroin.

HAHA, so good.

My favorite all time is the dead taem not showing up for the special olympics and they cut to their room. I'm sure it's on youtube but the man is holding me down and blocking my interweb.

Also, I obv love bringing back the "Cool Hwip".

I love Family Guy, but no way is it the best, its way too much slapstick comedy. South Park absolutely destroyed them in Cartoon Wars. Not saying South Park are the kings either but they crushed FG in that episode.

Frasier was one of my favourite shows so take the above how you will.

I thought the South Park lampooning of Family Guy was funny and accurate. But that is a far cry from destroying them. They pointed out Family Guy does not care much about plots and does a lot of "this one time....." jokes. Which is true. Still doesnt change the fact that Family Guy is hilarious. I love South park but it can be so preachy. I'll take Family Guy.

I think most people would take Simpsons overall against FG but I like FG better.
showstopper24
I thought the crocidle in the alligator scene was hilarious and when the new Brian was talking about Rupert and Stewie was just staring at him and then the next thing they show is Stewie dragging a bloody bag were some of the funniest things I've seen.

Fox will not air an upcoming 'Family Guy' episode that deals with abortion. The episode, titled 'Partial Terms of Endearment,' was brought up at this year's Comic-Con, and was planned to air sometime next season. But today, Fox released the following statement: "Fox will not air the 'Partial Terms of Endearment' episode of 'Family Guy,' but we fully support the producers' right to make the episode and distribute it in whatever way they want."

Just purchased Volumes 1-6 and started watching last night. I was never a fan...mostly because I never actually sat down and watched a full episode. I'm only 5 episodes in and it definitely has it's moments. My favourite line so far is when Peter says "you know those Germans. If you don't join their party they'll come and get you."
