Ok, here are the hands from last night where I lost sklansky bucks, and the hands where I lost a lot without showdown. Please look over these and tell me how bad I am.

Hand 2 was loose preflop, but the guy to my left had just posted both blinds dead so a) there was a reasonable pot size to pick up, b) UTG was 73/13, and would limp with anything, c) the 3 players behind me had VPIP of 24, 26 and 22 (the BB had VPIP 48). The flop pot I actually thought my straight was live, along with backdoor 2 pair (I was assuming I had 8 straight outs - forgot that aces were part of the draw). I wanted UTG out, and I thought potting was the better way to get fold equity.

Hand 4: I thought I'd checked the flop. I'd been distracted and I thought the flop had checked round. I should have checked behind on the turn I think.

Hand 5: I just thought all draws had missed, and he had made some similar bets which hadn't been shown down. I thought it was a reasonable place to call.

Hand 7: Anything I can do?

Hand 9: I thought I had a gutshot with it. This was a bad play, and again a misread. I don't think it was a massive mistake in $$ terms.

Hand 12: I wanted to call the river. I just didn't know why he would pot it when it's clear I'm folding. I thought that the only hand he could have to bluff with would be 678x. Would he have called down with a low flush draw? I don't know, I just hated it. Pot the turn?

Hand 13: This made me sick. I don't know how much better my hand could have been there, and then the river is horrendous. Again though, why would he pot 89 there when I can't call pot without it? I don't understand these bets at all, and they always make me suspicious.

Hand 15: I should bet less on the flop, but that's probably a $3 mistake. I don't think I can call the shove with a naked one pair. If he has any flush draw at all he's a decent favourite, and if he's ahead I'm dead.

Hand 16: I'd been 3-betting this table constantly, and noone was fighting back. This was a bad 3-bet I think. It was more of an autoraise than anything thought out. By this point I was about 12 buyins down, and probably not thinking perfectly. I like my postflop line though.

Hand 18: 2 buyins deep I have to fold this, right? There just aren't many draws he can do this with. I guess it's usually a split pot.

Hand 20 was a misread, and that should have been a fold. I know that. At first I was going to bet/fold, but then I didn't want to get raised with some redraw value, so I thought I would check/call. Then once I checked I realised that the pot was too big to try and control, and I then had to shove or fold. And opting for a check/fold line with the second nuts there just seemed too weak. Bet/fold is a far, far better line, and as played I think it should have been a fold anyway. I actually thought he might play 56 like that because he can't ever be way ahead when I pot the flop into several people, but he could be a long way behind.

Hand 1 : I give up on turn because i usually get called with top two or something when i do that.

Hand 2 : I am limping behind preflop. This is almost a marginal hand. You will miss a lot of flops and hit very lightly when you do that you will have to fold in the future streets most of the time. If you want to play it , try to see a cheap flop. Deffo fold to the repot preflop. I check flop to see what happens. AA very rarely folds on that flop and we have only 6 outs against him.

Hand 3 : This is a very difficult situation. I'd get mad just because being in this situation no matter if i lose or win. I have thought about this last night as well and i couldn't find another way to play this hand. If anyone does , please enlighten me.

Hand 4 : Check behind on turn. You know why.

Hand 5 : Fold river. My read on that guy was he was pretty striaghtforward. I think everytime he strange potted river he had something. Even without reads i fold this river.

Hand 6 : Cooler.

Hand 7: Standard. He will have a set often and we are good against a set.

Hand 8 : Any reason to isolate?

Hand 9 : I probably flat call flop and fold to a pot sized turn bet. We just have a FD unless he has top two or something.

Hand 10 : Don't repot me every time i 3-bet you preflop. Did you seriously have AA every time? It was so annoying..

Hand 11 : Why don't you bet flop?

Hand 12 : You have the best hand he is drawing. Full pot on turn.

Hand 13 : Very tough and a very good fold. How many players on this level are capable of calling down two pot bets to bluff a scare card on river with a full stack bet?

Hand 14 : Standard. Maybe one can fold turn but that's not me.

Hand 15 : Don't 3-bet preflop with this. QQTT i understand. QQ33 i don't.

Hand 16 : WP. I'd bet around 10-11 on turn.

Hand 17 : Standard.

Hand 18 : Good fold.

Hand 19 : What does repotting flop accomplish?

Hand 20 : As we discussed last night , bet folding turn seems optimum in this hand.

You forgot the hand where you like 4-betted me preflop with AKQT something and i called you with K754ds. Flop KQ7 we get it all in and i river a flush.

Hand 1 : I give up on turn because i usually get called with top two or something when i do that.
If I check there I lose the hand 90% of the time. They always bet. I make a small defensive bet there so he folds straight draws. I'm bluffing with the best hand usually, but I don't think a flush is a huge % of his range.

Hand 2 : I am limping behind preflop. This is almost a marginal hand. You will miss a lot of flops and hit very lightly when you do that you will have to fold in the future streets most of the time. As I say, I forgot that the ace was an out. I thought I had 8 outs plus backdoor two pairs or clubs. You limp a lot more than I do preflop, and I think this is generally a decent spot to try and isolate the limper with a playable hand. Especially with tight players behind me. One thing that I do need to work on is folding to preflop reraises. Here I was getting 3:1 and

Hand 4 : Check behind on turn. You know why.
Yeah, this was a mistake on my part. As I say, I thought I'd checked the flop.

Hand 5 : Fold river. My read on that guy was he was pretty striaghtforward. I think everytime he strange potted river he had something. Even without reads i fold this river.
I wanted to call one. I'm not going to call another one against him because I think he will have it most of the time. It's just that there had been 2 or 3 similar hands where I'd folded and I thought that because my hand is face up it was an easy bluffing spot.

Hand 8 : Any reason to isolate?
It's a good hand, and if I isolate I'm then in position against the raiser. It isn't a hand that plays well out of position though, and if I flat call I'm just giving it up on most flops with 4 players seeing the flop. If I reraise there SB is usually flat calling the reraise and check/folding most flops. I wish he had more money. If he had a full stack then I could instafold to his shove, but with his 1/2 stack I can't fold to the shove getting a big price.

Hand 9 : I probably flat call flop and fold to a pot sized turn bet. We just have a FD unless he has top two or something.
Yeah, this is a mistake. I saw my hand as AQJ5, and I thought he would fold aces up or something.

Hand 10 : Don't repot me every time i 3-bet you preflop. Did you seriously have AA every time? It was so annoying..
I honestly had AA every time except I think once. You did seem to repot me very frequently though.

Hand 11 : Why don't you bet flop?
I wanted to see what happened behind me. I don't want to bet there, get called and have to face a turn card. There's just too much that can come that's a problem, and I'm just totally blind. If I check and it goes bet-call or bet-raise I can fold. As it was, I read the small bet as being weak, and likely a flush draw or 45 or something. He didn't have much left, so I shoved. I thought I had the best hand there a good % of the time, and UTG can't check the flop with any hand that can call a check/repot there.

Hand 12 : You have the best hand he is drawing. Full pot on turn.
Probably right. I just wanted to save money in case he was slowplaying a set or if he hit KT. I think this was largely due to losing so much already.

Hand 13 : Very tough and a very good fold. How many players on this level are capable of calling down two pot bets to bluff a scare card on river with a full stack bet?
This just made me sick. I wanted to call the river not because I thought I had the best hand, but just to throw money away. It gets to the stage where I just expect to lose the money regardless so why not throw it away now and save time. Flop the straight, two pair and a flush draw, and obviously the river is just terrible.

Hand 15 : Don't 3-bet preflop with this. QQTT i understand. QQ33 i don't.
I agree. I don't think it's a big mistake though. The difference between QQTTss and QQ33ss isn't that big.

Hand 19 : What does repotting flop accomplish?
That wasn't a repot. Repot would be to $15. If I flat call there he's probably betting almost any turn and I have to fold. I thought I had the best hand a large % of the time, and it was a straight value play. I think his most likely hand is something like 89TJ. It's cheaper to make that raise and check behind on the turn than to call pot twice. If he reraises the flop I know I'm dead.

You forgot the hand where you like 4-betted me preflop with AKQT something and i called you with K754ds. Flop KQ7 we get it all in and i river a flush.
Yeah, that was fun. I was actually in profit for the session before that hand. Thanks. smile.gif
