Similar thoughts. I like Ohio St. LSU will score their 21, 24 points, whatever. But Ohio State is balanced on offense, and LSU's defense is the most overrated bunch in the country. If they couldnt stop 1 dimensional Arkansas, no way can they stop a solid, balanced team (think Kentucky, but better run game, and WAY better defense).

and georgia although impressed me throughout the year and i think is a very good team was not even in their conference championship therefore could not be put in the NC.

OSU's first possession was quick and cute, the RB they have impresses me. But since then LSU has pretty much owned. I think the first down OSU got on their final possession of the first half was huuuuge. They did not want LSU to get the ball again with a few minutes left in the half. The nations #1 defense cant really contain LSU yet.

This game is far from over......but Tressel better make some adjustments.

Nah, it really was a rebuilding year for them. They were expected to be 3rd in the Big-10 this year. If they don't lose underclassmen to the draft they will be scary good next year if the QB gets more consistent.

I still don't think LSU is a top 5 team based off what they did in the regular season against sorry competition.

Who is in your top five? If you base it on competition I'm not sure I'd have OSU in there either.. and LSU's losses were in OT

My top five would probably have included (in no particular order): LSU, USC, Georgia, Oklahoma, VT/Mizzou..

I'll probably get crap for that but I didn't think highly of OSU this year, but they should be very good in the next few years.

There will never be a playoff, simply because the Big Ten and Notre Dame have too much pull and benefit *far x100000* too much from the current system for the good 'ol boys to ever give up the bcs setup in place.

This is why I spend very little time sports betting. LSU played well, and OSU tackled absolutely horribly. They didn't wrap up anybody.

edit: oh and no bitching about playoffs if you are a Pac-10 fan or to a lesser extent a big-10 fan. Your two conferences are the biggest roadblocks BY FAR to a playoff/plus-one format.

For the record I've always been against the system, even though it favors Ohio State.

Congrats to LSU, they are the National Champs. But the system still sucks regardless of who wins it.

This is not Ohio State's fault. Every big team in the nation plays a few cupcakes OOC at home. Ohio State is willing to go on the road and play the best teams in the nation, they did the year Texas won the title and they do it next year against USC. They can't help Washington sucked ass this year, you don't know that when you schedule games years in advance.

It is very flawed.

The thing I hate most is the long wait from the season until the bowls. Last year OSU had to wait 51 days from their last game until the championship. Coming off their Michigan win and their undefeated season, they would have had so much momentum if the championship game was not so long away, but the long wait took away all the momentum.
If you say that the best teams should be able to wait a long time, well what other sport does the championship, or playoffs, happen so long after the season?

Oregon(With Dixon), Georgia, USC and West Virginia would've all beaten LSU, IMO.
