idk this thread will bite me in the ass if OU comes back, but i dont see it happening, they cant do anything on offense

I'm a life long OU fan, but I'm tired of Bob Stoops. He's the worst big game coach ever. He is an idiot in games like these. He always has been and always will be. I think OU needs to replace him. He can win regular season games and conference titles but his record in bowl games is abymsal and a shame to the University of Oklahoma.
NickZepp
WVU is a decent team but they are probably the worst team OU's played in the bowls in the years Stoops has been here.

Stoops job should be on the line. He's a complete moron.

They were 1 game from the national title game, they are far from a bad team

Devine is tearing up that defense, that guy is a future heisman finalist/winner.

Wow!!!!
Overreact much?
I am an Oklahoma State fan and I think you are crazy. Was Stoops the one that got caught stealing the jacket and got sent home? Was he the one that caused Reggid Smith and Kelly to get hurt? OU had a lot going against them today, very little of it was Stoops fault. But if you want to get rid of him, go ahead. Why don't you see if Blake or Howard are available again.
Ganseynogle
wow what a win, that was huge for this program
king1305
When Pat White endorses a man as the Head Coach, you hire him.

That team embraced Bill Stewart like none other. They are crazy to not hire him.

Country roadssssssssss, take me home, to the place, I belongggggggggggggggggggggg
West Virginia, mountain mommaaaaaaaaaa take me home, country roadssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Granger doesn't help this team that much. Neither does any of the other guys. OU was holding them pretty good but they gave them momentum when they didn't have to and it fell after that. OU is a poorly coached team in bowl games and has been for years. Look at the trend over the years in bowl games. OU is 4-4 in bowl games under Bob Stoops.

West Virginia is a decent team but this game was more about how poorly coached OU was than it was how great WVU is.

that was a pretty decent game to watch. I'm glad WVU won smile.gif. Yes, Divine looked amazing and did anyone catch his story? Both parents died of AIDS, Deion Sanders wanted to adopt him, and he is still only 19 years old, pretty crazy stuff.

Yea they forgot that he has at least three kids to three different women. That's BEFORE HE GOT TO MORGANTOWN.

What was bigger for the program? Winning that game or losing to Pitt/losing the chance to play for a national championship, therefore losing their head coach to UM?

Just wondering.

I slept through the entire game....what happened to Steve Staton, did he fall off the Earth? 1 carry for -2 yards.

hope not, i dont want devine getting 25 carries a game.

I don't know how he can, if he was considering it before this game he had to show scouts that he could run against a good defense and he got injured early. I definitely think he comes back and him still get his 15-20 carries a game and devine with 10.

I love the hire of Bill Stewart, you could tell he wanted this game so bad. What a guy, keeping this team together after the loss to pitt and then their coach rrod. It's not a big name coach, but the right guy for the job. He deserves it so much and was having a great time out there last night. That was the best game as a mountaineer fan I've ever seen, just because of the events that went on with this team.

And Bob Stoops should not be fired.

2-4 in BCS games. Which includes 0-4 in the last 4 games. And 48, 43, and 56 points in the last 3 games. And if you watched LSU they could have gotten 42 points easily.

Every team/program has to go throw rough patches to make the bright spots even better. Losing to Pitt might turn out to be a blessing in disguise where it allowed RichRod (a coach who obviously proved he didn't have his heart in West Virginia football 100%) to leave and allowed for the hiring of a man the players absolutely love and really responded and played their hearts out for. Now, in the long run, I don't know if Bill Stewart is going to be the right person for the job, but I'll tell you one thing, when your Heisman candidate for next year(and even for most of this season) goes on national TV and says that you need to hire someone, and the entire team supports it, well damnit you give that man a chance.

Well, there are obviously factors at hand here other then simple statistics. He has a child to take care of as well as the rest of his family. If his family is going through financial struggles, I don't see a reason for him to not at least test the waters and if it is the right time, then go for it. Greedily, I don't want to see him leave, and I don't think he has done anything to help himself this year (despite another 1,000 yard season). He hasn't ran the ball well and he has shown a tendency to get injured.

He has already filed the paperwork necessary to the NCAA for them to evaluate what his potential draft stock is. If I were to guess with my brain, I'd say that he is playing on Sundays next year instead of returning to Morgantown. If I use my heart, he returns to WVU and helps to lead them to a National Title.

Why don't you want the ball in Devine's hands EVERY opportunity you can? He's the fastest player on the roster. Period. He's explosive and can score from anywhere on the field. He's what Steve Slaton used to be, where he couldn't be stopped no matter where it was on the field. More carries for Noel = more big play potential = more the defense has to do to try to stop WVUs offense = more confusion for the D.

See above for thoughts on hiring.

There's probably a lot of guys that I'm sure could do better. Bill Stewart outcoached him. I bet Stewart lasts about 5 years at WVU.

I'd be willing to bet Stoops is still at Oklahoma long after Stewart is gone from WVU. I don't know of many programs who wouldn't love for Stoops to be running them.

You are probably right. But as long as Stoops is at OU they will continue losing the big ones because he's not a big game coach.

This is how John Cooper lost his job at Ohio State. This is why Lloyd Carr was basically booted out of Michigan. This has happened to many other programs.
I think Stoops is a genius, but if he continues to fail in big games he may find himself in the hot seat. It may not be justified, but the boosters will be calling for his head in no time if he can't win big games.

bubble_lol.gif at how much WVU is paying the new coach. It's like they sat there and said... oh the players like you, your a WV guy huh?? Guess that means we can give you a shitty contract and you will eat it up like a fat man at a buffet.

The other thing is that the contract for Stewart totaled the EXACT amount WVU is suing Rich Rodriguez for. Coincidence? Methinks not.

he's never lost to Texas and and won a national championship, I wouldn't exactly say he can't win a big game. I know it's always "what have you done for me lately", but I think firing him would be a mistake. Did't they lose the starting QB right before the season last year and used a freshman this year? He's been much better than Cooper

Bomar couldn't even take snaps. I don't know why he ever started. Thompson was always the better QB. With Bomar and last years team I doubt they finish with a winning record. He's not a good QB.

Bradford is probably the best freshman QB OU's ever had. He had one bad game all year really.

Troy Aikman barely played as a freshman. And when he played it was because the starter(Danny Bradley) was hurt. And he didn't play well as a freshman. Jamelle Holieway was good but he wasn't responsible for 34 TDs.
