What was bigger for the program? Winning that game or losing to Pitt/losing the chance to play for a national championship, therefore losing their head coach to UM?
Just wondering.
I slept through the entire game....what happened to Steve Staton, did he fall off the Earth? 1 carry for -2 yards.
Every team/program has to go throw rough patches to make the bright spots even better. Losing to Pitt might turn out to be a blessing in disguise where it allowed RichRod (a coach who obviously proved he didn't have his heart in West Virginia football 100%) to leave and allowed for the hiring of a man the players absolutely love and really responded and played their hearts out for. Now, in the long run, I don't know if Bill Stewart is going to be the right person for the job, but I'll tell you one thing, when your Heisman candidate for next year(and even for most of this season) goes on national TV and says that you need to hire someone, and the entire team supports it, well damnit you give that man a chance.

Thank you. That explains the bowl game, but what about only 2 games of 100+ yards out of the 8 before last night?
Does he go pro?
Well, there are obviously factors at hand here other then simple statistics. He has a child to take care of as well as the rest of his family. If his family is going through financial struggles, I don't see a reason for him to not at least test the waters and if it is the right time, then go for it. Greedily, I don't want to see him leave, and I don't think he has done anything to help himself this year (despite another 1,000 yard season). He hasn't ran the ball well and he has shown a tendency to get injured.
He has already filed the paperwork necessary to the NCAA for them to evaluate what his potential draft stock is. If I were to guess with my brain, I'd say that he is playing on Sundays next year instead of returning to Morgantown. If I use my heart, he returns to WVU and helps to lead them to a National Title.

hope not, i dont want devine getting 25 carries a game.
I don't know how he can, if he was considering it before this game he had to show scouts that he could run against a good defense and he got injured early. I definitely think he comes back and him still get his 15-20 carries a game and devine with 10.
I love the hire of Bill Stewart, you could tell he wanted this game so bad. What a guy, keeping this team together after the loss to pitt and then their coach rrod. It's not a big name coach, but the right guy for the job. He deserves it so much and was having a great time out there last night. That was the best game as a mountaineer fan I've ever seen, just because of the events that went on with this team.
And Bob Stoops should not be fired.
Why don't you want the ball in Devine's hands EVERY opportunity you can? He's the fastest player on the roster. Period. He's explosive and can score from anywhere on the field. He's what Steve Slaton used to be, where he couldn't be stopped no matter where it was on the field. More carries for Noel = more big play potential = more the defense has to do to try to stop WVUs offense = more confusion for the D.
See above for thoughts on hiring.
