QUOTE (funplyr9)
I have a situation which needs your insight, I am organizing a poker tournament with a 48 player max. the buy in is $50. so far it is easy, i have my blind structure, chips, cards etc... the problem is that my home can't hold 50 poker players. So i have a friend that has a regular bi weekly game in the back room of his pool hall, he has enough tables for all, and the whole set up is sweet. but here is the catch, it is illegal in quebec to play cards for money unless you are in a legal casino. Also, another crazy thing is that i work as a dealer at one of the said casinos , and most players would be other dealers and pit crew. now im not worried about much (other than losing my job) . he hasn't had any problems with the law, and he has been having his games for almost 3 years . so i was wondering whether i should cancel, pretend to cancel, just keep it quiet or challenge the laws and go ahead with it !
Point 1 is very important
Point 2-he's gotten lucky and the games have probably been small
Point 3-yes you should cancel, the bigger the game the more likely you are to get busted.
Just keep sticking with home games with people you know well
