but not tragic?
I don't think that word means what you think it means
Tragedy:
1. a dramatic composition, often in verse, dealing with a serious or somber theme, typically that of a great person destined through a flaw of character or conflict with some overpowering force, as fate or society, to downfall or destruction.
When used clasically, I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean what you think it means. A great war is a tragedy. The loss of one solider in a war is not.
In literature, it's used to describe falls of people from high positions. By its very definition, a soldier's death can't be a tragedy...those are reserved for kings and queens and heads of state, etc.
