how is alzheimers disease NOT tragic? plz tell me, id like to hear that argument

alzheimers, in the later stages, is mostly painless for the person who has it. You also know it's coming. Everyone looks at the JFK/RFK shootings as particularly tragic because those two lives were ended abruptly and prematurely. Can that really be said for Reagan?

Unless there's a draft, i don't consider a soldier's death 'tragic'...they volunteered to serve their country and died in that effort.

Needless, pointless, sad, heart-wrenching, sure, but not tragic.

Tragedy:
1. a dramatic composition, often in verse, dealing with a serious or somber theme, typically that of a great person destined through a flaw of character or conflict with some overpowering force, as fate or society, to downfall or destruction.

When used clasically, I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean what you think it means. A great war is a tragedy. The loss of one solider in a war is not.

In literature, it's used to describe falls of people from high positions. By its very definition, a soldier's death can't be a tragedy...those are reserved for kings and queens and heads of state, etc.

I have thought about this and disagree, this may have been one of the best deaths our country has every seen, and for all you racists out there I do not mean in that way. I think that his death progressed forward his movement faster than if he were left alive. Just an opinion obv.

How is Alzheimers more tragic than ALS, or cancer, or getting shot in the head while riding in a car next to your wife?

That's so brutal. I cannot even begin to fathom the ways in which that changed Mrs. Kennedy-Onassis.

I'm sure I'll get mocked for this, but I think I can make as compelling an argument for him as anyone else can for their choice.

Steve Irwin.

Why?
Besides the human sob story that many other choices have (wife, 2 young kids, etc.), Irwin was as important to his chosen passion as anyone else. He taught literally hundreds of millions of people around the world about all sorts of animals that you didn't even know existed before he came along; the awareness he brought to the mistreatment of animals around the world, the way he helped people conquer (without ever meeting them) unreasonable fears of various animals, the training he provided to countless animal workers... his death left a great void in his field, one that probably won't ever be filled.
