Only been at the table a few hands but, from what I have seen, Villian has been playing well.

PokerStars Hold'em No Limit ($0.05/$0.10)
Seat #1 is the button
Seat 2: SB ($3.70 in chips)
Seat 3: Villian ($12.95 in chips)
Seat 8: Hero ($13.65 in chips)

Dealt to Hero Qs 10s

6 folds, Hero raises to $0.40, SB calls $0.35, Villian calls $0.30

FLOP ($1.20) Ah Jc 6d (3 players)
SB checks, Villian checks, Hero bets $1.00, SB folds, Villian calls $1

TURN ($3.20) Ah Jc 6d Js
Villian checks, Hero checks

RIVER ($3.20) Ah Jc 6d Js Kd
Villian $1.00, Hero raises to $4.50, Villian raises $7.50
Hero?

Criticism welcome on all stages, but would a call be bad here?

Preflop, I dunno, QT is soooo marginal, but you have position so I say OK. (perhaps wait for better reads on the blinds?)

Flop, standard c/bet

Turn, standard, I'm beat check

River, I just call here (the $1 bet) I hate paired boards, they make me queasy. Villain's re-raise looks like he's dragging you to valuetown but at just over 5:1 you have to call, be ready to see AJ a lot, unlucky.

I think you'd see KJ, but almost never AJ. River is never a fold, I don't care that the board sucks for the action. He minraised, so you have to call. He could be just trying to get value out of a random Jack.

And you have to raise the river, this is so often a random post oak bluff that flat calling it is kind of weak.

I agree. KJ was actually my gut instinct, but maybe I'm giving villain too much credit for being able to dump 2nd pair to preflop raiser and A on board, considering he wouldn't have a read on our hero.

And yeh it would be weak to just call the river bet but I'm a nit in cash games.

Yes, Q 10 is marginal (but its suited ! icon_biggrin.gif ), but in position I do play a lot of very marginal hands - possibly a leak in my game that I need to tighten.

Villian really caught me off guard on this hand (he didn't have a J) and as I have a propensity to fall in love with my hands, I wanted to make sure that a call wasn't me being a donk again.

No. Two pair or a set should have been all over this hand before the river.

I HATE slowplayers.

What would be bluffing here? Every gutshot on the flop made atleast a pair and even if villain was bluffing there is no value in raising a bluff. I am not advocating a call on the initial river bet but raising when you think he is bluffing is wrong since he wont call with those hands anyways.

Me too. Villian had pocket 6's for trips on the flop and a boat on the turn.

Thanks for the comments guys.
