I just saw on Two Plus Two's website that Ed Miller's new book "Getting Started in Hold 'em" is shipping and was curious if anyone has purchased it or is planning on it.
I'm just wondering if it's an in depth kind of book or one that touches a little on common subjects covered in every other poker book. I thought Small Stakes Hold 'em was very high quality and am curious as to if he's going to be an emerging force in the poker literature world with this next book as well.

Haven't looked at it real close, did pick it up and flipped through the book yesterday. Me and the little lady usually get a cup of joe at the bookstore on saturday mornings and look through books in more detail. I will check it out then and get it if it looks good.

Ok, so I got this book! It's a decent book for learning Holdem, I do like some of the points he brings out, which I think can be of benefit for any level.
He does mention in one part that if you want to learn NL tourney play that he recommends Harrington's book, which I totally agree with.
If you are the type of person who likes to pick up a book about Holdem and get a few good points from it, then this is a good one to get.

If anyone was still curious about this book, I just finished reading it today. This is the first Ed Miller book I have read(I have SSHE coming from Amazon in a few days). I am fairly new to poker, and found some points in the book useful.
It explains pot equity and pot odds very generally, so if you are fuzzy about these points, its a good read. I also liked the breakdown of hands playable for early, middle, and late positions for LHE. I play mostly NL, and have been struggling with my Limit game, so the limit section had already started to help me.
The no limit section manily describes how to play with big and small stacks at the table. The tournament section just briefly goes over stratgey for SnG's, MTT's and satellite tournaments. Overall not a bad read.
Personally I didn't find too much of information in the book that will drastically help my game, as you can probably find alot of it on internet forums or other websites, but it helped me remember what I need to focus on when I'm playing, and has many good examples of actual situations and has some quizzes to help the new player along. Hopefully it sets a good foundation for SSHE, as I still have alot of work to do in my limit game.
