Am I right with the big raise? Obviously I'm trying to isolate or win the pot there and then. I've raised 2 of the 8 hands i've been there for.

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (5 handed) Poker Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: ITH Forums)

Hero ($8.85)
MP ($20.90)
Button ($10.40)
SB ($9.20)
BB ($32.25)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with qc.gif, qd.gif.
Hero raises to $0.4, 1 fold, Button raises to $1.2, SB calls $1.15, BB calls $1.10, Hero raises to $5.1,

I am definitely reraising here. You have two people calling a raise and a reraise cold and you do not want to see a 4-way flop with QQ. I reraise and call a push from the button since it is only $5 more after/if he calls your reraise. Hopefully you are not up against AA or KK. A lot of times you are racing with AK.

I like the play.

IMO this is based on how big of fish are the other players at the table plus the three bettors range. If you have seen the callers call reraises with really marginal hands (KJ, Axs actually might not be uncommon here for some of the bad players at this level (im currently grinding my bankroll at .05 .1) im more likely to repop. Also the second thing im worrying about is the three bettors range. If hes a guy that will three bet you with 88 + and AJ + I definately repop. If the four bet comes i think its time to lay it down.

that said with 8 hands you probably dont have any of these reads

Shovel. No point in going to 5 when you started with 8.85. Lots of what will probably be dead money in there to make up for the times when you run into AA or KK.

there isnt enough dead money in there to make up for the times he has aa and kk if his range is exclusively aa, kk, and ak. his range probably needs jj and tt thrown into it and he needs to go all the way with all of them every time for you to get it in here.

40 BBs in the pot. so yes there is plenty of dead money and i'm not worried about the blinds. being that the reraise came from the button can mean a variety of hands. i instashove here.
