Same reason people love karaoke. The joy of thinking you can do something that looks easy but really isn't.

Well now I don't get either one. I thought people loved karaoke because it's fun to get drunk and make a complete fool out of yourself. Or, in some cases, because they mistakenly think they can sing well enough to entertain others.

With a little DDR thrown in, which is a game I really despise.

I've beat every regular song on expert except Raining Blood by Slayer and the 8th Encore. Raining Blood is just ridiculous.

My friend is a Guitar Hero fanatic. He went to Wal-Mart a few hours before its release to wait in line.

80's version is okay...but it's the worst of the 4.

Also, music games are fun. For me, DDR -> Donkey Konga -> Guitar Hero. I think DDR's still the king though...since it's actually exercise and has decent potential for improving coordination. Unfortunately, I have a super fast metabolism and delusions of gaining weight, so I stopped playing.

Finally, just got GH3 tonight. Been playing through Easy...which is quite boring. Just doing it to earn the cash, to reinforce good habits, and for completion's sake.

going thru easy is by far the hardest thing to do just because it seems to drag on and on and on and.....yeah

Finished Easy with enough cash to buy all the bonus songs and videos with a little left over. Some of these bonus songs are quite catchy...and I'm impressed with the overall setlist...probably the most of any of the series.

We (8 guys) karaoked "Do you hear what I hear" the Thursday night before break. Brought down the house, it was pretty funny.

But do I get GH3 or RockBand?

That's the real question. Seems to be much more bang with RB. Drumming looks fun.
CBass1724
Is the game worth getting if you can't play guitar?

nope. they are called hammer-ons. the whole 1st section is one hammer on. just like you can strum a guitar and just slide your fingers for notes chahnges on that string (am i right?) you can do the same on some parts of GH.

the whole beginning is just one longgggg note basically

to be able to do that for THAT many notes is just ridiculous (but very possible)

yup, hammer on and run offs, there is a tutorial section on how to do them in the training section of the game. if you are going to pull off sections like that you have to be able to do those otherwise it is impossible.

Got GH 1, 2, and 3 for Christmas today, as well as a wireless controller.

The easy levels are pretty easy, but I took a whack at Talk Dirty to Me on Medium and it kinda kicked my ass, haven't had the opportunity to play the harder levels yet.

I know now what I'll be doing for the next six months.

Eh I just recently borrowed GH1 and I just got 2 songs left on expert to beat, and I can't hammer on or anything. Played for maybe 20 hours total to get to this point, just got Cowboys from Hell and Bark at the Moon left, although I can't beat either without improving myself.
gatortom64
My son got a PS3 for X-mas & Guitar Hero III for the PS2 with 2 guitars. He is already on the 7th set of songs on expert & just beat Slash. He is 12. I hate him. JFS!!!! icon_biggrin.gif icon_biggrin.gif

beating it isn't the hard thing....or the long part. its the fact i can play thehm over and over again with alot of enjoyment. plus GH3 has online mode that never gets boring.

i got the Guitar Hero Rock the 80s for Christmas today and 5 starred every song on medium the first time going through it, that totally sucks. Shouldnt be that easy. I am working on hard now. I still havent got the orange button down yet, but getting there.

that is just sick.

My eyes can follow it easily enough, but try getting my fingers to do that...

I played it in Sears a few days ago while taking a break from Christmas shopping and I absolutely sucked on Medium. I can't coordinate my fingers with the rhythm, and holding the guitar is awkward for me.
