Ok, so if we are 100% sure we have the best hand then does a check/call make more sense? What would he call that bet with that we can beat? Set of 8's and set of 9's is even more unlikely and those are the only two I can think of.

How many worse hands will he shove though if you check? He's calling a shove with any flush.

In any case, I don't like the small turn bet because you're offering him great odds to call with a wide range. I'm not saying pot it, but even just $12 on the turn and your river decision is trivial.
