The last two pots i played with villian, he's raised preflop and I've called. Both times, the flop came a couple of face cards/aces and he open farelled. Here I gotta assume that because he didnt open farell, he's got some type of really good ace. That being said, do you think its worth it for me to call the flop bet to try to hit a gutterball to double up?

Yes, this is ZOMG I FLOPPED 2 PAIRS. Try to hit the Q, if you do, open shove.

How would i be able to calculate something like this? A mathematical explanation would be welcome. David Nicoson, where are you?
Temporary Nuts
Wait... i just looked at the SB's stack... it's too short to chase. You hit it like what, 8% of the time on the turn? So you've got to have room to make up for the other 92% of the time you miss on implied odds + pot odds... I have a feeling this one will be really close if we assume you can stack him every time you hit the Q on the turn. If he's got around $5 like the rest of the table this is an easy call.

sb!? what the hell are you talking about? I was playing against the guy with $10

Don't call the reraise preflop.

Assume that you're gonna fold if you don't hit on the turn.
Assume that he stacks off a certain % of the time.
Go backwards and calc the odds you'd need to be getting to call $.40

You'll hit 9% of the time on the next card.
Basically, you need to be getting like 11-1 to call (assuming you ALWAYS stack him) which means that each time you call and hit, you need to make sure that he puts in like $4.40 more into the pot.

This is a losing proposition here because:
He often has only one pair and will not stack off
He sometimes has a set and outdraws you on the river
Your stack isn't deep enough to stack him and make up for other times where you don't

Yeah.

You're about 11-1 to hit this on the turn, so if you think you'd take his stack every time you hit then you could justify it. But if he folds to pressure even a small amount of the time it's -EV. I like the fold.

thx much for this, it really helps.
