I hate that you made me go to twitter.

But yeah, that was interesting i suppose.

First off, I liked Tallon so this is not a bash Tallon post.

Where to start.....the writing was on the wall. I don't think there was one single reason for his "re-assignment." There were just too many cooks in the kitchen.(taken from a talk shot host, but I agree) He was also part of the old regime, and it was only a matter of time. Did I think he did a great job..no, he was just alright. He took a couple years after the lockout to realize what kind of player would be most effective in the new NHL and he seemed to always over pay for players; Habby, Havlat, Huet, Campbell. I think the final straw was that Tallon wanted to keep Havlat and probably told him so, but the Bowmans wanted Hossa. That would explain why Havlat is upset at the Hawks. As for the whole RFA thing, I actually think it was Bowman's fault, but Tallon is a company guy, so he took the fall. The reason they did it now was because of the convention coming up. They wanted to be open with the fans.

It's kinda like the Savard firing, you feel kinda bad for the guy but it the long run it's probably the best move. The Hawks are serious, they're not afraid to make a move if they feel it will improve their chances of winning.
Suited_Up
It has nothing to do with the RFA thing.

You could hear this coming from Wurtz around playoff time. He did an interview on the radio station here, and all but said that while Tallon is doing fine, Bowman is actually the one doing all the work behind the scenes. I mean, he all but told everyone that Tallon was on the way out, because Bowman was the brains anyway.

Unfortunately all the idiot fans and media seemed to have completely forgot about that interview. So now I turn on the radio and I have to hear how surprised people are.

This is pretty much exactly the same thing that the Bulls just did.

good stuff from Havlat...

"This groundswell also extends to former Blackhawks forward Martin Havlat, who - through the direct link of Twitter - continues to tease Hawks fans with suggestive tweets that indicate Dale Tallon's firing was very predictable. "Tip of the iceberg," Havlat wrote in one tweet. In another, he asked, "shouldn't fans know the truth?"

Shortly after that, Havlat's Twitter account crashed because of an overload of responses."

yeah, because minor hockey goings-on has the potential to crash twitter these days. journalists pretty much suck.

P Kane arrested for stealing from a cabbie and beating him up over an argument involving 20 cents. Nice.

just my two cents regarding this Kane thing.

As a professional athlete how can you be so stupid??

While not in the same stupidity column as Burress, Vick and even Heatley...Still just moronic.

undoubtedly he was just sloshed out of his mind.

the screwed up thing is... by age 20 you're generally experienced enough with alcohol to control yourself. obviously the legal age is 21 here, but it starts much, much earlier. I guess I'm just not willing to come down so hard on the guy, having seen the stupid shit my friends used to do.

The difference between an average college kid and Kane, is the obvious fact that he is a celebrity and making millions playing hockey. He has a responsibility to act in a professional manner at ALL times.

unfortunately he's a human like the rest of us. I don't binge at all anymore, but years ago it was basically impossible for me to stop drinking once I got past 3-4 beers.

the fact that we're talking about this as the worst thing an NHL player has done this summer is a testament to the character of the people who play the game.

totally agree...Hockey players compared to football players and other sports are choir boys.

The NFL seems to be the home of criminal athletes.
TheDaveyG
Don't overlook the fact that Kane was with family. Drinking plus brother or cousin or even uncle equals a couple points up on the rowdiness scale. :cough: Staals :cough:

Well, it's all over, Patrick Kane pled guilty to disorderly conduct. This is a violation, not a criminal charge, and it carries a $125 penalty for court costs and fees. He also has to submit a written apology to the driver.

Like the driver himself said, it was all very overblown at the end of the day.

Now ESPN can start shoving Vick, Farve and Marshall crap in everyone's face again. These are important news stories that should take up 95% of Sportscenter instead of the 92% that they currently spend on them.

It was a very good game..If we didnt get robbed of the no goal, we could of won..

The Hawks are a great fast team and the pressure they put on the PK is amazing...You cant make any mistakes against them or they bury you..

I was impressed with our resiliency and we just didnt give up..Could of easily tied it in the third..

GOOD GAME

I was a little disappointed in the play of the Hawks in the third, they just came out flat after dominating the Leafs in the first 2 periods. I don't see how you can complain about that no goal call. They looked at that play forever in Toronto trying to find a way to give it to the Leafs. What I take from this game is a) Kessel is the Leafs only real threat and cool.gif there needs to be more O6 matchups for Detroit and Chicago.

Heh, another close one last night.... No Goal that is. Landed right on the line but never went over before Huet sweeped it out with the glove.

Also good win in OT vs the Sharks! smile.gif

Hawks lock up Duncan Keith

I really hope they can keep this young nucleus together. They have a chance to be special
Zach6668
I heard the Keith deal is 13 years. icon_eek.gif

They should have Toews and Kane deals shortly too, apparently.
Suited_Up
Yeah, they're talking 5 years/$6mm per for Kane and Toews, and 13 years for Keith.

I assume the Keith deal is to free up future space so they don't lose everyone else.

They did look good. This could be the most successful "circus" trip in a long time.

Today's game should be outstanding.

I think the best suprise has been the goaltending. They have the lowest GA in the league as of now.
Suited_Up
I guess they took the night off tonight.
