We all know that Kaner is ROY, and both he and Tazer were named to the all rookie team, but yesterday us hawks fans got some great news.

Foley's back!

Most Hawks fans love this guy, including myself. It's great to see McDonough in tune with what the fans want.

Pat Foley highlights

Check out the "Baaaaanerman" call at 2:11. PayFoley is one of the best.

You changed the discussion from the Red Wings vs. the Hawks to the Red Wings in the finals. You should be proud that the Wings are in the finals, they have had a great season. I figured you would say something along the lines of "we're in the finals and you didn't make the playoffs" after my last post. I'm sure when the Hawks were taking 5 of 8 against you weren't worried about the years to come. I wanted the Hawks to make the playoffs, but if they didn't I wasn't going to be upset. They had one of the most successful seasons of any team out there in terms of progress and fan support gained. Your argument about the finals will only last until next season when we starting beating up on your Chicken Wings all over again.

BTW, nice Tigers logo in your avatar. They suck, lol.

That was 3 weeks ago buddy. These pants which you speak of have been taken off, washed, ironed, folded and put in the drawer.

Good! Serious pants can bunch up sometimes and make people act to seriously over non serious things.

GO HAWKS!

anyone else hear these rumours of Scotty Bowman to Chicago? I was really suprised, the FAN590 here in Toronto made it sound like a done deal on Tuesday, and now I read it was way off base, Scotty himself shot them down.

This is news to me. I know Toews lived with his Bowman's son this past year, and was really it really helped him focus on hockey and not get a big ego. It would be a great addition, but it's not the end of the world if he stays with Detroit.

SPLASH!

WOW, making big moves here! I can't remember the last time the Hawks had such a huge day in FA. It will be a weird feeling expecting to make the playoffs. icon_biggrin.gif

This might have been a big reason why they went out and got Huet and Campbell, the buzz is getting louder and with every game on tv next year they really need to put on an exciting show.

I predict a trip to the minors for Khabibulin with a short layover on waivers.

Heh, didn't see the spoiler until I went to reply, but I was going to say Hawerchuk #10 by the boards, and Patrick Kane in the stands with his father.

wait, that's a Sylvain Turgeon card! I think I had a few of his cards. Didn't he win a Calder after being drafted 2nd overall by the Whalers?
oh yeah, right, forgot he SUCKED BALLS.

no biggie, it was only a pick before Lafontaine and Yzerman. Doubt those guys would have helped the Whale.

Turgeon put up .886 PPG for the Whale, including a couple of 40G+ seasons. Not exactly sucked balls numbers.

Obviously in retrospect it would have been nicer to take Lafontaine or Yzerman, but it would be way worse to have been the Minnesota GM that year, taking Brian Lawton at #1.

Oh wait, you guys got to taste his awesomeness for a couple seasons there too.

Blackhawks' Toews is third-youngest captain in history of NHL

Too soon?

Crosby had 2 seasons and 160 games under his belt before getting the nod, even if he was younger. I don't know much about the makeup of Toews but is 1 season and 64 GP enough?

lol tho.
TheDaveyG
It'd be a waste of time to make anyone else captain. All their best players are young, so the C should go to their young leader. Think of the other choices.

Kane, Havlat, Lang, Campbell, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook, Byfuglien, Bolland, Eager, Ladd, Adams, Burrish, Skille, Sopel, Barker, Wisneiwski?

One A will go to Campbell, the other might rotate between Lang, Sopel, Keith and Seabrook. I can also see Burrish getting some A time, just cause he's all about the team.

I hate to cheer for players to fail, but I am hoping Sidney doesnt live up to the hype. From everything I have heard from insiders Crosby is a whiner on and off the ice and still very immature..It may change since he is still very young.

lol @ your insiders... you believe them when they make up stuff about the Pens, but when a real insider says something you don't like about the Leafs, it's all media nonsense? LOL @ you.

Also, why do you go out of your way to say something strictly to get under people's skin? It's getting a little tired, serge, you made your point about 5 posts ago on Toews vs Crosby, now stfu and go back to the thread you created for one of the worst teams, with no future, in the league.

Obviously we hit a sour spot with you...A very good friend of mine produces commercials in the Toronto area and he has dealt with hundreds of athletes. He said that the day he worked with your hero Sid, he had never met such an egotistical athlete before. He was very difficult to work with. It is also common knowledge in the hockey world that he is a huge cry baby on the ice.

I just made the comment because its true. And if you bad mouth the Leafs organization again you will be sorry..Thats a promise

1. Again I have to agree, the kid bitches and whines a lot. I hate players who wine. That is why I hate the Pistons, all 5 whine constantly.

2. I hope he says something bad because I want to see what you can actually do.

Ah ok, wasn't aware that you had first hand knowledge over a large, significant sample size, and not just one story from a friend of a friend of a friend about something that may or may not have happened one time out of the million times he's done commercials, appearances, etc.

Sorry, I underestimated you.

Back to Blackhawks.....

who should be on Toews and Kane's line? Sharp or Byfuglien? It will probably be Sharp, but part of me feels that Buff standing in front of the net will create more goals overall. Then again, maybe Savard thinks that Buff on Lang and Havlat's line is a better fit because they like to shoot a lot more and Buff can get some garbage goals. I would like the third line to be Skille, Ladd and Bolland. How crazy would a fourth line of Eager, Burrish and Beach be? Maybe next year.

Defensive pairings are a little easier. I guess the best pairs would be Keith + Seabrook, Campbell + Sopel, then Barker + Wisneiwski (when he gets back)

First PP unit? That's easy. Campbell, Keith, Toews, Kane are obvious, then choose between Sharp, Havlat and Byfuglien to round it out. It will be interesting to see How Savvy sets everything up.

Hopefully this gets discussion back to the Hawks, because this IS the Hawks thread after all.
