I know its not technically a show, but how did we watch TV prior to it? I have a 2 year old and another on the way, I would never get to see any of my shows that I like if it were not for Tivo, and the ones I do watch I would contantly get interupted.
Other bonuses
- Pee/poo pause
- Get another beer/cocktail pause
- Discipline kid pause
- Get sex pause(that one unfortunately happens less and less now)
- Food pause
- sports rewind
- nude scene rewind/slomo
Feel free to add more, this was off the top of my head.

.fast forward through boring stuff
.rewind when someone makes a noise so you can't hear the punchline of a joke (happens during the Office sometimes).

I love DVR, but I've never used Tivo. My parents have whatever the Dish Network DVR is, and I've got Moxi.

I also have DVR, not Tivo-but I'm talking like they are the same.

TiVo is awesome. I think the best part about it is not having to deal with tapes. All your shows are on the menu and you can easily find whatever show you're looking for. My poker season pass has top priority, so I never miss a new poker broadcast. I don't think I could ever go back to not having TiVo.

The thing that I think TIVO or DVR's need to do is set up sub menus. I have a bunch of movies recorded and also some shows that I kept for specific reasons, such as HGTV shows with cool ideas so I can look at them when I have time/money to implement. Or my kids cartoons. It would be great if it were like windows and I could move those around and not have 6 pages of recorded crap.

English is my 2nd language, so if I don't understand something I can rewind and put the captions on. Very helpful AND educational.
Every time I watch TV away from home, like in hotel rooms, I always reach for the remote to pause/rewind/etc. only to find out it's not there...frustrating.

After I posted this I went to my friends house and he had all of the blue planets in a folder. I just looked at every menu my TIVO has and could not find this option and he did not know how it was done.
Does anyone know how to o this?

I have caught myself going for the rewind button while listening to the radio in my car. TiVo is awesome. And yes, a real Tivo, not just a random DVR has folders for nice organization. If you actually do have a Tivo, then you must just have a really old one. Both my Tivo's are 3 years old and have the folder option.

I recently upgraded my TIVO with two new hard drives; used to be 30 hours, now its 360. So now I am retaining movies and shows that I like, which is great. I still have the final table of the WSOP ME (which takes up 20 hours and was the sole reason I upgraded my unit). btw, if anyone wants to upgrade, its cheap and easy.

Thanks Cobalt but my TIVO does not have that option at the bottom of the playing list? Maybe I need to call them

Happened to me cause I forgot to put a (DSL) filter in between the jacks. If you have DSL, check if your filter is there.
