Sorry if these are standard hands but i don't know how to play these.

My first instinct was pushing flop but the pot was so tiny it didn't make sense so i raised it hoping he would push. I think i should have just called flop.

I really get lost quite often in a lot of hands.

I have a hard time grasping his range here. You should have 12 outs. That means that you're about a 3-1 dog. Since the pot isn't laying you the right price, I think you should fold if you have no other reads to act upon.

I am actually more interested in flop play. I think flop is the more complicated decision here.

Shoving would be overkill by a large margin. Your raise is also a bit big. A pot sized raise would be more like $11 and it accomplishes the same thing. I raise the flop here with that many outs all day long, but probably not as big as you did.

I push this flop a lot, but i also push it with set/ top 2. Calling just seems ok with me depending on the way u play this villian. Keepin the pot small, you'll probably keep getting a little better than 2:1 plus implied odds. I think the big pot got him thinking, "that's big enough let me take it down", instead of trying to maximize the hand.

I like a raise most of the tine though, i just think u were unfortunate to have him guess right that u didn't have a hand,
