so, i've not had the chance to play in about 9 months because of work, and before that i hadn't gotten into it seriously besides playin on pokerstars here and there and playin freerolls. i was wonderin what books you guys can recommend? i posted this back in december when i thought i was gonna get serious before work stole my life(i'm never taking salaried positions again.). i've got supersystems 1 and 2 that i'm gonna pick up and read, i also read doyle's book on online poker, and was wonderin what else you can recommend for me. i'm gonna start doin tourneys and eventually possibly playin cash games again since i always do alot better at cash games then tournaments.

any help would be superb.

Harrington and Cloutier.

Cloutier and McEvoy's NL/PL book was one of the first I read. I'm sure it was great back when the WSOP was played with 138 entries and everyone played tight aggressive (and I quote "the 2nd raise was like Ivory Snow. 99.9% pure Aces."). Now, not so much when a lot of success is had by loose aggressive players. Harrington's book defintiely though, if you are going to play tournaments.

Doyle's online book sucks. I bought it too based on the name, and it's useless.

Best to decide right now if you are doing sit'goes, big tourneys or cash games. There's not much written for sit'n'goes, but there's a ton on cash games. Harrington's book are tourney books.

If you are going to play cash, then is it going to be limit or no limit? Hold'em, or other games.

There's hundreds of books out there (maybe a few dozen worth reading). You'll need to be more specific about what you plan to play before we can suggest books to read.

yeah, i also found doyle's online book a waste of time. and i wanna stick to no limit, and play both tourney and cash games. no limit is my strongest game just cuz i've got the most experience with it, and i play some pl, but mostly stick to nl. my fav game is nl omaha and it comes as a close 2nd for my best game, and those are really the only two i play. i used to play 5 card draw w/ my dad way back when i was like 6 but thats as much experience as i have in that and i would really like to get into 7 card stud. and i wanna try to dabble in lowball or omaha hi/lo, etc, but i'm still very confused about the hands and stuff there, so i stick to the basics. i just love to play poker and wouldn't mind makin some money on the side w/ it. hope that helps y'all recommend more stuff.
