Sun: Eagles Defense dominate entire game. Eagles find way to lose game. I cry for 30 minutes

If you have been an Eagles fan for any amount of time you should know they have the power to play down to any team. And their defense dominated the game just as much as GB's did. And what killed the Eagles, which has been their problem for like 15 years, is special teams, and should come as 0 surprise.

BTW I'm a pack fan living in Philadelphia... so don't complain about your weekend... I have no friends ATM.

God, I swear you are just making stuff up to piss me off. First off they are the most consistent team in the NFL in the past 7 years, having won their division 6 out of 7. Their defense dominated the game much more than GB's did, although you and the commentators must have been watching a different game. 3 of GB's 4 scoring drives: 0yds TD, -1yd FG, 12yds FG. They had one - yes, one - drive.

The Eagles got away from the run as Andy Reid always does with McNabb out there and their special teams lost the game for them.

The Eagles special teams has been their strong point for years under Harbaugh. Vai Sikahema? He was one of the best punt returners ever. Westbrook beat the Giants 3 years ago with a punt return. Akers is a mainstay, the punting was fine. Reno Mahe was 3rd last yr in yds/return for punts and 2nd the year before. And he fumbled 1 punt in two years. God, you're making me insane with random shots that don't make sense.

I realize the point...a social thread for those of us that prefer strat...I just didn't find the particular line of conversation interesting (as it's a topic well-covered by General->Football) and thus neglected to keep up with it. If they played it this week at Foxboro, it would be +5.5-6, I think, and that is taking into account the Steelers' dominant win.

I dunno really, I haven't looked to closely at the Steelers this season. Seems like things are going alright though. But the Patriots looked really good last Sunday. I would say they would give up no more than a touchdown to the Steelers, but there is a lot of season between now and then.

I got my numbers wrong about this absurd quote earlier. I used this site:

http://www.hickoksports.com/history/profoo...ions.shtml#1998

I assumed the years referred to the when the Super Bowl took place ((i.e., 2006 would refer to the 2005-2006 season), but it actually refers to when the season started.

Regardless, Patriots still have won their division as many times and won three Super Bowls and my Bucs have as many playoff appearances plus a Super Bowl win in the last decade.

Eagles are legends in the deluded minds of their fans, only!

Irony

NFL Determines Pats Violated RulesNFL commissioner Roger Goodell has determined that the New England Patriots violated league rules Sunday when they videotaped defensive signals by the New York Jets' coaches, according to league sources.

NFL security officials confiscated a camera and videotape from Patriots video assistant Matt Estrella on the New England sidelines when it was suspected he was recording the Jets' defensive signals. Sources say the visual evidence confirmed the suspicion.

Goodell is considering severe sanctions, including the possibility of docking the Patriots "multiple draft picks" because it is the competitive violation in the wake of a stern warning to all teams since he became commissioner, the sources said. The Patriots have been suspected in previous incidents.

The Patriots will be allowed an opportunity to present their case by Friday, sources said, most likely via the telephone.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said on Tuesday that no official decision has been made and that the club has not been notified.

The league also was reviewing a possible violation into the number of radio frequencies the Patriots were using during Sunday's game, sources said. The team did not have a satisfactory explanation when asked about possible irregularities in its communication setup during the game.

Goodell is expected to have a decision no later than Friday but that is not set in stone.

Chris Mortensen covers the NFL for ESPN.

Philadelphia Eagles:

2000: 11-5 2001: 11-5 2002: 12-4 2003: 12-4 2004: 13-3 2005: 6-10 2006: 10-6

Overall Regular Season: 75-37

Playoffs: 8-6

Combined: 83-43

New England Patriots:

2000: 5-11 2001: 11-5 2002: 9-7 2003: 14-2 2004: 14-2 2005: 10-6 2006: 12-4

Overall Regular Season: 75-37

Playoffs: 12-2

Combined: 87-39

They have 4 more wins. What's more impressive (to Eagles fan) is that they have played the same amount of games even though the Eagles are supposed to be choke artists. How are they not the most consistent team in the league when they have played the same amount of games including playoffs as this (without argument) New England Patriots dynasty?

The Patriots missed the playoffs twice over this same run, the Eagles only once. Their missed playoffs was when they suspended TO for the season and Mcnabb was out for the yr.

No other team has played near this amount of games over this time period, Colts are close.

Shut up about Bucs now.

I know I'm gonna hear 0 Super Bowls but what does that have to do with consistency?
