i run firestarter (default settings work fine), and AVG. don't even bother messing with the frontend for firestarter, it's mostly worthless.

Sooooo since December 7th I have trying to get my Epassporte working and today was a triumphant day I finally got money out of my Epassporte account from an ATM. I was soooo excited.

I went to the local coffee shop and got a bagel and coffee, come home set the bagel and coffee on the table. Go to grab a paper towel and spill coffee all over my laptop, and it just shuts off. MOTHER F*UCKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am now on LFT as my laptop will not start. I tried to get all the coffee off and turned it upside down but coffee drained out of the bottom. I am fearing the worst, luckily I have a desktop but it is ancient and sometimes the internet doesn't work.

Is there any chance my laptop is still alive?

If it isn't alive is there any chance I could still use the screen?

Then it was probably poorly constructed. Most good laptops put a shield between the keyboard and the motherboard for just this type of thing: so you only short out the keyboard, not the motherboard. Costs less to replace.

Yeah kinda wierd, I grew up in Ohio about 3 hours from Pittsburgh and I've never heard anyone call it that.

We call them ABMs in Thunder Bay. (Also ATM's, though).

ABM = Automated Banking Machine

MAC = Money Access Center, an interbank network operating ATMs and POS terminals

I see signs marked that way, but people don't refer to ATMs generically that way.

MAC is Media Access Control to network people, so those signs always makes me think, "MAC? WTF? oh, yeah."

And the problems I had at with firestarter were either with SSH port fowarding or a VPN at uni. So it works fine at home but if I can't use it at uni it'll be pretty useless. Do you have any experience with that?

Sorry should've made it clear, at uni I can foward ports via ssh to get access to the internet. It's better than the VPN because I get unlimited bandwith with the school of IT, whereas I have to pay if I use more than 5 mb a day if I connect the regular way through Uni. I'm being lazy and should just set it up, it shouldn't be difficult in the slightest. I should probably install AVG but it's such a memory hog. (or was on windows anyway)
