I have a new biggest pet peeve in poker.

You raise up to X amount. You see a flop, but lose the hand.

After the hand, someone else not in the hand says to you, "Nice bet. I folded the winner."

I want to choke these people. Especially if they pat the table, Lucky You-style.

It's pretty bad. You should wait until someone else rents it for $1.00, rather than renting it yourself.

Like I said, I enjoyed seeing the Binion's dealers (e.g., Norris) because it made me feel like an insider and a couple of poker scenes. The characters are just completely unbelievable, though.

I desperately want to have a conversation about some of the "best" parts, but I don't want to ruin it for the anyone. Off the top of my head, the length of time between getting a small amount of money to start the money to sitting in the big game is phenomenawesome.

The table pat.

The...oh, the ecstacy.

I saw it in the theatres.

Unfortunately only one time.

It's definitely a two theatre appearance movie.

I liked it, but really only for the scenes of Vegas and inside some of the casinos.

That had to be the biggest joke of a movie ever? Jay kept telling me to wait til the end. The end didn't help.

I'll tell you what I didn't like, and that's Drew ****ing Barrymore. Couldn't they find a better girl for the role?

Watch it again start to finish, you can't miss it twice.

I find myself saying that about every movie she's in. I pray at night that E.T. will some day ride off with her into the moonlight on a Huffy and never bring her back.

Strike that, she doesn't deserve the luxury of a Huffy. She's more of a Schwinn kinda girl.

Ew. I guess I'd start Morris because he's got the best chance of getting solid playing time. Maybe Dayne? Not Faulk though. I doubt any of these guys will be the difference between winning and losing because none of them should impact any of the games. I'm still going crazy about my WR situation.

I think I settled on Johnson, Jennings and Marshall, with Hackett and Branch on bench and waiting Javon to get healthy.

I'd start Morris. The Saints have a deceptively good rushing defense (their pass defense is horrific) and Faulk simply won't get enough carries to justify playing.

I'm thinking about trying to book the poker room rate at the MGM. If I'm reading http://allvegaspoker.com correctly, they'll give you a $40/night discount, on what is already only an $89.99/night room.

Has anyone ever booked a poker room rate?

Actually BAW, i have a 6 and bit hour shift and the internet is running out of things I'm wanting to read.

Kind of on the verge of quitting poker. Don't particularly need the money...so it's mostly about the competition/fun...which I mostly get from tournaments, but not lately.

Hey,

In the last year and a half or so, I've taken breaks from playing for a month or more a couple of times for different reasons. I still posted on here and read books about it and stuff, but I just didn't play and I think that it really helps you get some perspective. It lets you be involved with the game to an extent without actually having to suffer any of the ups and downs from it.

I wouldn't set any rules for yourself or anything, but just step away from it for a few weeks. If you feel like playing, then play. I think one of the most fun things to do is to learn a new game, but from talking to you, I already know that you're not exactly a one trick holdem pony, but I'm sure there are still other games that you can learn up on, which would be fun since more players suck worse at other games than they do at holdem.

If I had to guess I would say you are on a downswing right now. Poker is never fun when you're losing. It's a crazy game etc. I haven't ever been able to log crazy hours because the game makes me so mad when I lose. If you don't need the game and it doesn't make you happy then leave it. Would be nice if you kept posting though.

I know for me, everytime I take a break I know I'm coming back. I'm not yet satisfied with my ability yet. I'll always come back until I believe I have maxed out my potential. After that comes if I'm not making crazy loot I'll probably only play very occasionally. If I get to be the best I can be and it's not anything significantly better than "$1000max grinder" I doubt I'll continue playing.

Cross-posted but this is a trade offer to me and I'm not sure what to do...

My team is currently in second place. My league gives .5 to receptions. 1qb 2rb 3wr 1te 1k 1d league.

My Team:
Carson Palmer
Andre Johnson
DJ Hackett
Greg Jennings
Ladanian Tomlinson
Willie Parker
Greg Olsen

Backups:
Brandon Marshall
Javon Walker
Deion Branch
Earnest Graham

The trade is Earnest Graham, Willie Parker, DJ Hackett, Andre Johnson for Chad Johnson, Jericho Cotchery and Stephen Jackson.

I think I'm giving up a lot at WR but it's my deepest position and this solidifies my RB situation because Willie sucks and Earnest is not an every game type player. Right now I'm 2nd in the league alone, and a good bet to make the playoffs.
CobaltBlue
I appreciate the support, guys. I'll definitely stick around...too many good friendships and intellectual stimulation...and I probably won't "quit". It's kind of a combination of factors that led me to this feeling, really. And, actually, I'm more stoic than depressed about it. I'm doing just fine with cash games, but MTTs are eating my soul. The problem is that there doesn't seem to be a "goal" in cash games when you're not depending on the money. My last big MTT outright "win" was in January...and I feel like I'm better than that...but the results speak, I think.

That said, I did just remember a long-term goal for myself that may keep me interested in the game. I've wanted to get back to being lifetime winner at 5/10 NL...and the way I've been playing lately there, I think that's well within reach.

I countered with willie, graham, and jennings for steven jackson. Willie and Graham could both potentially start for him (if Marshawn is still hurt) and Jennings would be his best WR (IMO) he has Chad Johnson, Lee Evans, and Jericho Cotchery.
